I took these pictures last week. These were particularly well behaved; they didn't stand in the middle of the road.

From my experience the bulls usually do not mind that I am there. But one time I was in a field in Jacksonville Florida one night and a bull was watching me and snorting in an aggressive fashion. Then he started stomping his feet trying to intimidate me more. I just left the field and had no other problems. Most of them are nice, others you don't want to mess with.

Ive had mother cows chase me, bulls have never chased me...
Also note IF IT HAS HORNS IT DOESNT MEAN ITS A BULL, and BULLS DONT HAVE TO HAVE HORNS
the bulls did stand firm in front of the heard in a few fields though...

It wasn't while I was looking for mushrooms or anything, but I was mountain biking a couple years ago, and a mother bull fliped out. It was pretty damn scary.
EDIT: Well either way, a big thing was chasing me.

Bulls are all male. They are the ones with the ding-a-lings hanging down. The females have the milk sacks.

I was shrooming around a bunch of cows and bulls once and i guess they thought i was going to feed them or some shit so they start charging at me and my as took off running passing up many shrooms along the way. I finally got to a tree and hid and they ran off the other way when they saw me run. Funny shit. But defiantly scary. Its even worse if you get caught by the farmer lol.

When cows all start Mooing it alerts farmers that someone could be in their pasture. If you walk in the opposite direction and further away from the mooers they will eventually shut up.

Very, very true....but alot of the times the biggest shrooms are around the damn cows. Why did god have to make cows moo? Why cant they just run.....

I got charged a month ago in eastern Texas. Huge fucker...my girlfriend got out of the car to look, having heard it despite having the door shut from a football field away.
Unpleasant.
Horses are usually docile. A rope swung slowly in a circle usually pisses them off enough to leave, but that usually is only needed because they're curious invasive little bastards.

i remember one time i was picking liberty caps in a field with about a dozen young bulls... young but still big... they were more curious of me than worried about me invading their space, so i didnt pay them much attention... i was crouched down picking and they crept up behind me silently, before i realised they were all within about 10 feet of me stood in a semi circle watching me... it was a bit unerving i must say but i just chased them away haha...

If you had to crawl under a barbed wire fence then they weren't running free were they?

I don't like fences... Fences are for hopping. If it is barbed wire.... well, that's what they made wire cutters for. Though I do not generally condone destruction of private property, especially if you are trying to remain undetected.

Once upon a time I was having sex with my first wife in a field. When we were done I felt a hot damp blast on my back. I looked up to see the face of a cow inches from mine. That was exciting believe me.

i think that it's probably good that the owner let their animals "run free", even though they were obviously trapped by boundaries (barbed wire fences). maybe this is going away from the point of the thread, but to answer your question, i don't think the owner is doing anything wrong or being irresponsible. his land, his animals, his deal.
oh and no i haven't been charged by any before, but i've seen them. and once i was chased by llamas while looking for liberty caps.

Rich, Rich farmers. People that have enough money they use a farm more as a tax write off than anything.
