NEED some help to understand what is wrong here!!

i have tried a few times to birth a cake with no success (i did in the past). i keep getting a yellow brownish mold attacking my cakes near the end of the incubation process (this one pictured is about 6 weeks). i do not know why this is occurring since the lids are tight, the control jars (no spores added) are fine, and as i mentioned all the jar appears to be in good health until the sixth week. any suggestions on what it is? And possible reasons why most of the cakes have these marks?

p.s. did not know how to upload pics so i attached a pdf with the pictures

I think thats the mycelium extruding its waste products .. maybe they
went too long in the jar?

yes, six weeks in a jar is over what i usually do, but due to poor birthing i wanted to see if i could get some pins growing before removing the cakes; although this lowers yields at the very least would insure that a few would grow ... at least this was the plan until i realize 90% of the cakes look like the one in the pics; i wonder if they would still grow if i placed them in a terrarium?

You do NOT want in vitro pins on the cakes before birthing them, as this will increase those pins chances of aborting (fondling fruitbodies is frowned upon by your baby shrooms, and they will not take it lightly.). 6 weeks is far too long to incbate under optimal temps. Sounds like mycelial matabolites (waste, ie: "piss") caused that slight yellowing and browning. Do some reading bud, the archives are only a click away....

No. No, man. Shit, no man.  I believe you'd get your ass kicked sayin' somethin' like that man.

the reason why i posted this, was because i had no idea what was on my cakes, so its kinda hard to do research on a subject you can only describe by "yellow - brownish spots". but i think all of you were correct so with this new information i can begin to look some things up, in which case i thank you;)

there are plenty posts on that. they are hard to find sometimes. but if u kik about here all the time and read lots of posts. then you r likely to fiind answers to problems u may have later on.

I know everyone says anything but bright white is bad, I see this as over cautious. birth those cakes, take em out and wash them. the discolration should come of then dunk n roll.

unless it smells bad then they should be fine. or its an abvoius bad colour.

dude theres nothing wrong with those cakes as far as i can see. the first pic just looks like some spots not colonized. the second pic is just mycellium piss. im 100% that there is nothing wrong with the second pic, the first is a little iffy but it looks fine to me. you prob just arent birthing them right.

the 2nd pic is definatly metobolites, i had that in a few jars, it washed of and my cakes fruited fine.

The first one??? does look a little od, could be uncolinised.

If it is jsut uncolinsed bits, then it should cover white in a few days.

Just dunk n roll and you should be fine.

oh, u can upload pictures and stick them straight in your post, rather than adding an oversized pdf attachment.
