    #7531105 - 10/18/07 12:33 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

thanks for all your help.

That doesn't even look irregular. If it's cobweb mold, PM me, and mail me the jar. I'd love to fruit that jar of cobweb.

That sure looks like mold in the second picture, upper right. It's also possible bacteria around a kernel in the same picture, center left. I'd suggest shaking the jar well to disperse the colonized kernels with the uncolonized. If it fails to recover, it was contaminated.

Thanks RR. The jar is 14 days old and I believe I shook it 6 days ago or so. I will do it again and let you know. Thanks again.

OK so I followed RR's instructions and shook up the jar. It was really hard to mix up because most of the WBS was colonized. It has been 4 days since I posted the first pictures. I think it looks healthy but would really appreciate input since this is my first grow. Thanks for the help.

I am still a noob, but it seems to me, that if your jars are that colonized....according to latest pics...after this much time...you are home free

The fact that they recovered from shaking indicates it wasn't bacteria. If it smells like fresh mushrooms, then you're home free.

Thanks RR. They def smell earthy. I guess I will just let you know how it goes through this thread (Not sure how to move it to cultivation or grow log)

Here it is crumbled. I feel like I should've let them colonize another couple days:

That's absolutely fine. From the pictures it would appear you have some really strong, thick myc; I doubt it needed any more time.

As you break apart the jar a lot of what's visible, the strandlike hyphal connections between grains tears and disappears. That's normal, and each of those grains is still being digested by mycelium. You're good to spawn.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the comments. So for the update:
-didn't spawn to any substrate
-just cased wbs with 50/50 perfect mix/vermiculite 5 days ago
-went straight into FC
-may have uneven growth and require patching, but need opinions

Happy Halloween!

Hey guys,

Looks like I have another question. I think these mushrooms are extremely small to have already broken their veil. I guess it could be due to a very small amount of substrate?
Basically, are these ripe for the picking or will they grow much larger?

Thanks again.

PS the strain is KSSS

They're as grown as they'll get. Pick once the veil tears.

And yes; usually the size of the mushroom is directly related to the depth of your substrate.
