I just love taking pictures of the beautifull amanita muscaria, they are such rewarding subjects.. When faeries or gnomes do exist they surely must have their homes in or under these mushrooms!

That last close up shot is really great, the color is spectacular! And the fifth picture down is really beautiful, the little grass seed on the cap identifies it as the same mushroom featured in the last picture, it's a nice touch. The genus of Amanita really loves the camera. Keep up the great work.

These are from Holland, I bet
@cactu: Personally, I've mostly found bright red ones (99%), perhaps sometimes a bit more orange, but definitely not the almost pale yellow of var. formosa.

JAJA I BELIEVE ARE MILLION USE FOR THIS BABY'S
cactu you have an amazing sharp eye when it comes to mushrooms, thats a real gift!
there is a true there since my last drive test exam show i need to check my vision but, i can not recall any problem spotting amanita muscaria from 20 meters away, but instead i can´t red good at distant i guess this thing of seeing has lot to do with the brain more that with the eye , when my mind see mushrooms i see clear, i guess is because i have trained my eyes and my mind to do so , or perhaps is a gift from mushrooms spirit,
The genus of Amanita really loves the camera. Keep up the great work.
it sure do i guess is the most aesthetic looking mushrooms , if you are not a mushrooms fun and you find this or see this is impossible not to stare or fall to the beauty of ,it what is for? , all that show mushrooms express, i doubt is to attract flies, insect, , i mean this is for a mind that can appreciate all the details, mushrooms show to us just for you to look at , don´t you think ?and attract you and you know what gonna happen next, some will destroy it, , o other will took it and left it in some place else ,some will eat it, either way he get what he what to reproduce to expand , amanita muscaria exit in all the world where pines or plant host exist, this makes a mushrooms that is old in evolution some only grow in some part of the world but here we have i guess something evolution create long time ago and still exist.
@cactu: Personally, I've mostly found bright red ones (99%), perhaps sometimes a bit more orange, but definitely not the almost pale yellow of var. formosa
since like in europe there are not many variation in muscaria im Mexico we can fin the red variety with yellow dots most of the times also with white dots, the yellow variety, and the white variety but in USA is the place where i have seem most like 6 or more types and more look alikes, in japan also are some varieties in the white and red variety, and in places where pines have been use in plantations like new Zealand ,Australia, Chile, Argentina, the first specie to appear in the amanitas is amanita muscaria, and always the red variety... interesting this mushrooms can be use to target the environment, amanita mean pines or pinaceas family,or a few decaying trees betula sp. , the size of the fruit body can vary is the plants have few nutrient so it can be use to study the fixation of nutrients and stage of health of the forest, like a biologic indicator..... i can go on, jeje, amanita muscaria, hight grade in mushrooms evolution ........
