yes:

get to know how to use dichotomous keys for identification, as well as the meanings of the terms used to describe mushrooms in the literature and research the species of interest in your area. you should also familiarize yourself with the deadly mushroom species in your area. there are likely to be only a few.

get to know the common features of mushrooms in the genus Psilocybe. pay attention to the described habitats for the species you research, as understanding and recognizing habitat types is key to finding them in the first place.

all of this info can be found here and also on google. for the rest, we're all usualy happy to help if you're willing to follow the rules of our board, and of this forum in particular.

it's not that hard and getting started is fun as long as you don't eat mushrooms you don't know.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
