hunting for hunters

not the first time i see a hunter out this season. to the guy in brown looking all over the ground in a traffic island on MLK today, i saw you! didnt want to scare you though. other day saw a dude on a bike on the sidewalk slowly creeping and looking only at the ground.
to other people it may look like hunters are just crazy, but if you hunt too it's easy to know what theyre doing.

yeah, and an MLK in every major city in the us and then some.
but to the origional point, yes, we look like tweakers and wingnuts out there in the rain looking perpetualy downwards, but i like to see other hunters around. it's like an unspoken thing. unspoken because so many of them have been rude as hell when i've tried talking with them. a shame
also; to the guy who walked up to me last winter and asked me what i was doing in a friendly manner and when i told him, asked excitedly if he could help, i solute you.

Can't blame them. I get kinda zoned myself and a tad paranoid. Thus, I hunt in more quiet places. Making it harder to find numberous or larger patches. But the benefit of stealth is worth the lack of weight.

i find that most ideal locations aren't in well known places [as well known places tend to draw many people who thence do not spend as much time scouting new locations] so that running into other hunters in my usual spots is a rarity.
for example, i rarely venture into GG park.

The other day I was hunting in a local park when a female park dweller yelled at me "If you're looking for mushrooms, you won't find any. Well.. you'll find 'em but they won't be the right kind"
I just smiled and walked away with my cup full.

Hmmm..... most people think I lost something, like a contact. Yesterday someone asked in an embarrassingly loud tone at school, "SQUIRREL SIGHTING???"
I've never run into a fellow hunter.

Holy crap. I was wearing all brown on my hunt yesterday (I live in Georgia), and I'm sure I was quite conspicuously looking down at the ground for perhaps my entire mile-walk up and down the road. When I first saw this thread, I seriously thought for a split-second that I was the one on question... then I looked at the post date. Still a funny coincidence, though.
