digi cam wont turn on

it only turns on if i put it on the dock any body know what the problem might be. and no its not the batteries i checked. it did sit in storage for about a year but worked fine before that

If the batteries are rechargeables then I'd bet on them being bad. Recharegable batteries will go bad after a while, and especially if they sat for a year. I had some on a video camera that showed full charge until you uplugged them, then they just died.

If they are replaceable/alkaline batteries and you know thats not the problem then I have no idea.

Digital cameras will at least usually turn on even if it has a very small charge, but will power off whenever you try and take a picture. Try loading a pair of name brand alkaline batteries (one-use ones). Some store brands won't even work for digital cameras. At worst, it could be an issue with your battery terminals or even possibly your camera board. Some retail locations like Best Buy will allow you to return the camera if it's within Manufacturer's Warranty and they'll send it off to get fixed for you. Check with your retailer if it was purchased less than a year ago. If more, you can send it off to the manufacturer.
