Hello everyone... I have a bit of a unique situation here, the mushroom I am trying to cultivate has already grown, in fact I found it in my lawn. I couldn't leave it there because we have a dog and I couldn't kill it so I brought it inside and have been researching for the past 6 hours how to care for it. I have no idea what type of mushroom it is and nor do I care as I don't intend on eating it.
at the moment I have it in the soil and grass it was growing in (yes there is now a hole in my yard) and all of that is in a planter... I've read a lot about fertilizers and compost but that was mostly on getting the mushroom to grow in the first place... any suggestions?
oh btw I live in Southern Ontario if that makes any difference.

i would recommend doing a spore print of it. search the forums on how to do this. taking a picture for identification purposes wold definitely help you make sure you were able to cultivate successfully.

Yeah your going to need a lot more information about the mushroom before you ask about cultivating it, if it is possible to cultivate that mushroom.
Come back with more info, I wish you luck.

I'm from the land of igloo's and polar bears aswell lipstic, the mushroom you have I can guarntee is not a psychoactive... We have patches of them popping up all over the front lawn right now for one reason or another supposively they've been doing this every year as far back as the owner of the property remembers.
Anywho, you'd need some agar skills and a flowhood or glovebox, you'd slice off a peice of the inner mushroom tissue recommended to do so at the base of the mushrooms stem and carfully place it onto the agar slide, let the mycellium branch out and cutt out a small peice from the healthy growth and place it on another agar slide, repeat until no contams are present.
Why would you want to go through all that trouble for a lawn mushroom?

Actually it doesn't appear to be your typical lawn mushroom, its actually a bit tougher and was completely alone. Usually the ones around here are soft and easily destroyed and grow in patches. However even if it is just a typical lawn mushroom its so cute, and has many metaphysical properties to it as most wild mushrooms do.
I'm not sure how to do a spore print since I can't see any spores... if I cut away a bit of the underside will it harm the mushroom?
