im going to try shrooms, but i am kind of anxious about the possibility of a bad trip, because ive heard from friends that they can be horrible..if anyone has any advice for me on my first trip, it would be much apreciated.

don't listen to your friends  .. just relax. make sure you're in a comfortable environment where you won't get any unpleasant interruptions. set & setting are everything. i've tripped many times and never had a bad experience. you can remind yourself that no matter how crazy things are getting, it is only temporary and in a few hours, you'll get pulled back to reality. music is wonderful. i'd advise not eating too much, probably around 1.5-2.5g dried, and enjoy yourself!

just remember you have control of the trip, you have the power to make it bad or good. Just pick a good place like geo said.

Setting, setting, setting thats all i can say. Like was said before you have control of it and if you dont like them well just wait it out for 4-6 hours and life will be fine. Just relax there is nothing permanent that can happen and you have to go into it pumped about them. Your attitude and setting will have the major roles in your trip. I suggest doing your research too. Make sure you know what you are getting into. Mush is the best and i love it to death. One more hint here dont shroom with your friends that told you that shit that is exactly what you dont need durig a trip is people like that to freak you out. Do it with some close friends that you trust and have fun with thats all have fun and just keep a cool head you'll be fine. Have fun and enjoy

thanks for the info. im trying to learn as much as i can befor i do them..ive acctually been wanting to trip forever, so ive gotten in a lot of research, but i think it will all go good..ive had a lot of experience with other drugs though, is dxm considered a hallucinagen? because ive done that many times and kept it under control, and a few of my friends got freaked out on that stuff. anyways..im looking forward to tripping..i still have to find the damn things though:( but i think one of my friends is going to be growing again soon so ill get a hold of them sooner or later.

Technically, DXM is a disassociative anesthetic, at least at recreational doses. I've heard some people refer to it as a deliriant although I don't really agree with that classification. I consider nutmeg and jimson weed deliriants. It is in the same group as ketamine and pcp. Between mushrooms and DXM, personally I have come closer to having a bad trip (i.e. panicking that I took too much and needing to talk myself down) on one 8 oz bottle of DXM or approximately 720 mg than I have when I took about three grams of 'shrooms. All things equal I think one is more likely to have a bad trip on DXM. However, the two trips are completely different so it is like comparing mangos and avocados.

yay tripping is so fun! i'm excited for you...
please don't drive. going for a ride is always really fun (if someone sober is driving)...and there's always the park. parks are the most incredibly beautiful places to be while tripping, in my opinion. of course, don't go to a park where people will be around you or anything though.
have fun. while the thought of eating the 'wrong' mushrooms will be there, as long as you're careful and double check everything, you'll be fine.

Yeah, set and setting!! Make sure you aren't gonna be bothered by people you don't like to meet while tripping and I think it might be a good idea to have a sober friend there with you or at least around where you are (just in case).
Another thing : I think a first trip isn't likely to be bad because you just don't know what to expect ... i remember my first trip ... everything was AMAZING and the only person who was a bit worried was the one who'd already tripped!
It seems to me that when you're "relaxed" about the trip don't bother too much about stuff (it's normal to feel a healthy anxiety before a trip) and just HAVE FUN that it'll be amazing!
And another thing if things get "bad" and you're confronted with things you couldn't ever have imagined, most likely after a few hours it'll be all over, of course it can be the cause of a period of "having to sort it all out" and lots of thinking about it ... but you'll live and you probably won't regret it and wouldn't want to trade it for anything !
I would just be relaxed (if you've planned a trip but don't feel ok with it when the time arrives then postpone it), a bit of anxiety is ok and will go away quickly once the trip has started and you'll be amazed at how easy going it'll be for sure don't bother about stuff keep set and setting in mind ... it'll be perfect

Yes. If you must eat pizza put the mushrooms on after you cook it.

All the way to the potency side. Who cares if they taste good when they don't do anything to you? Forget the pizza. Eat nothing for four hours beforehand at least. Eat them with a small amount of some strong-tasting food (peanut butter, OJ). I would just eat them plain; I really don't understand why people think they're so awful. The less food you eat with them, the better. Cheese is bad.

but im a first time tripper, so i dont want my trip to be that insane anyway, i heard smoothies are good but that sounds nasty. should i chop them up? will i know by taste if i have a poisonous one?? whats the best way to tell if i do?

cyberchump gives good advice. heat is bad. it destroys the psilocybin & psilocyn in the shrooms. if you don't want to trip quite so hard just cut down the dose. don't cook the magic out of the mushrooms. a lot of people like to make tea. it does help the taste and it seems (from my experience, anyway) like the hot water helps speed the drug into your system. just don't over steep the shrooms. chop them very fine (a coffee grinder works well), choose a nice strong tea and flavor with honey. add your mushroom powder when you pull out the tea bags, stir well, and slug it down. make sure to swirl the cup as you drink so you get all the meat.
by far the best way to overcome taste is to load the powder into gelcaps that you get at GNC or other health stores. you can pack about a 1/2 gram into each cap so its real easy to meter your dose, and its as easy as taking your vitamins. it's time consuming, though.
as for cheese (and other dairy products) i have been told that they reduce the effects, but i don't know if that is substantiated with any proof (anyone?). it does seem to make me a little queezy, though.
should i chop them up? - yes. makes it easier to get 'em down no matter how you do 'em. also, evens out the potency if you are splitting them with someone.
will i know by taste if i have a poisonous one?? - that depends. do you know what mushrooms are supposed to taste like? and, how are you going to tell if you go to all that trouble to hide the taste? you need to be able to trust your source. if they have been grown by someone then the spores probably came from a reliable vendor and you have no worries. if they have been gathered in the wild, then you are putting your life in the hands of the person that picked them. there are MANY deadly look alikes. browse the gallery on this site and you will see.

I had some powdered that I planned to put in gell caps but I said fuck it and tossed the powder down with a dr pepper chaser. Avoid doing this if possible.

I have a very finicky sense of taste. I've done shrooms once before and I took the 1/8th in three portions, there is no way I coulda just chewed them and swallowed, I would have vomited or something, I think.
Next time I do them here is how I'm planning on taking them:
Dice up mushrooms into very small bits, place on a folded piece of paper (so that they can kinda be "funneled" into my mouth)
Hold an ice cube in my mouth for as long as I can until my toungue is numb.
Spit out ice cube, "funnel" pieces into mouth and then swallow them with a gigantic gulp of cranberry juice or something equally strong-tasting.
Thats a combination of the ways I tried to swallow them, the ways that worked, at least. I doubt I'll even taste them, I hope. :-)

well what about if someone grows them but bacteria gets in and somehow affects them?? will they look different, or is it possible that they might mutate without changing the way it looks?
