Pumpkin effect on mushrooms?

Has anyone ever tried the trick on mushrooms that they do to pumpkins to get those huge 1500lb monsters? If you pluck off all pumpkins off a vine system except one all the nutrients go to the solitary super pumpkin.
So what if perhaps when a cake began to pin you picked off all pins except a few or maybe put foil down on the cake and allow only a small area for pins to form?

You aren't comparing apples to apples. You're comparing apples to orangutangs.

lol, but really... mushrooms rely on the network of mycellium like the network of roots and vines in pumpkins and other network plants. Why wouldn't it work forcing all the network's (mycellium's) energy to one spot. At the very least I would think that if the single mushroom didn't get bigger it got more potent.
I remember seeing a thread here of a guy that grew B+ in a 5gallon bucket with deep substrate. He had pics of 144g (quarter pound) fresh single mushroom. So, at least some strains have an ability to get larger if more mycellium network is added.

I had a tray colonizing in complete darkness and some how one large pin was able to form, so I put the tray in the FC since full colonization was just reached anyway. About a day before that pin's maturity was reached was when the rest of the tray started pinning. When I picked the monster it was around 160g wet. Theory being, since it got a head start it was able to absorb more water from the surrounding area making it larger. Had it been maturing along with all the other pins, i highly doubt it would've gotten that big.

Hmm, maybe if I remove all the unassembled Ford Focuses from the assembly line except one, the remaining car will eat Ferraris for breakfast? No, extrapolating pumpkin technology to Ford's doesn't work, and extrapolating it to mushrooms doesn't work so well, either.
A mushroom casing/whatever will only produce so big of a mushroom, I think. Actually, I think picking all the pins off except one might cause the remaining baby to mature more rapidly, no? Does this relate to why mushrooms come in flushes and you pick them all more or less at once? Just my opinion.

I don't understand this thread. It's well-known that if you remove all but a few mushrooms from a flush that they'll grow much larger. However, what's the point? You'll get more benefit from a tray with lots of smaller fruits. RR

+1 ... plus you have also consider it from a practical culinary perspective. No one wants a serving of a small junk of a massive single fruit as compared to having several entire fruits all to themselves. I'm a big fan of smaller, button-like fruits.

lol, well I think it would be fun to see a 2 foot tall huge shroom. May not be practical or as potent but It would make a cool decoration for a while. 'novelty shroom' I got a deal with my friend that whatever shroom we grow we have to eat it entirely no matter how large the single mushroom is. No splitting it up.
