I was searching around for a place to buy vermiculite and found this at Lowe's. Is this the correct stuff? The title is Desa Vermiculite for Vented Logs.

All forms of vermiculite contain hazardous amounts of a specifically dangerous form of asbestos. Use something else.

Lol i dont know where they get this crap since in the same thread was information saying that all verm is ok now.what i meant was coarse verm was better for casing material and finer is better for rolling with cakes.

I am planning on making cakes, so if I'm using it for that is this the right stuff? Also, would I be able to grind it up to make it a more fine material for dunking?

That's a lie. Vermiculite does not contain asbestos.

You can throw as much as you need into a blender and it works fine.
I like buying the large bags of coarse rather than fine. You can't make coarse verm out of fine, but you can make fine out of coarse. .
Just be careful depending on how fine you want it, I personally find it doesn't take long at all and it works best for me if I stir it up after a few seconds to make sure I don't get all dust at the bottom while the chunks stay at the top. Turn off the blender first though...

Somatic is wrong and Roadkill is right: if it contained asbestos, you wouldn't even be able to by vermiculite at Lowes!
The Lowes by me sells verm in 8-quart or so bags, kept just inside or outside of the door to the outdoor garden department. (Perlite and various peat formulations are usually nearby, just so you know.) It works fine, I think. You want the horticultural variety, rather than the fireplace stuff.
