Mini Tek Tek

Ok im new to this forum.. and haven't even done a grow yet but im still gonna write this mini tek tek anyway.
The Tek Tek is not about growing mushrooms its about YOU growing mushrooms. Let me explain...
When starting out or expanding your grow operation there are some things to keep in mind about Tek write ups.
#1 Teks are not written in stone. All the teks you see on this site can be modified slightly to suite your needs. Even if thats just a sizing up or down, or substituting substrate etc.
#2 Mushrooms all have the same lifecycle no matter what the tek. Some teks grow spores into myc in jars the transfer to chambers. Some teks use bags for the entire process. Still others use cake pans. In the end a mushroom starts out as a spore, becomes myc, then the myc fruits and the fruits produce more spores. There are many methods to do this and they all work with varying degrees of success.
#3 The basics never change. No matter what tek you are reading they all have a few things in common. Those are: a) sterility is important b) temperature and humidity should be monitored c) sterility is important d) lighting e) did i mention sterility
#4 Selecting a tek When selecting a tek for you take into consideration these important things a) cost b) size c) convince d) privacy
#5 Pieces of tek Teks can be used in pieces very successfully. For example you may use a sterilization procedure and jar setup from 1 tek and a fruiting chamber setup from another.
Conclusion The Teks are an excellent source for information and ideas, but when it comes down to it they are just ideas. You can use the ideas and processes outlined in 1 or many of these teks to come up with your own personal operation. Don’t think that just because you read a tek that ends with a nice pic of packed fruit chamber that that’s the one for you. Really read into them and come up with a process that fits YOUR needs. If you have questions, ASK. If you have ideas, TELL. And if you have mushrooms, SHARE.

me if you have questions about lasers Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles. FeelFamily resident tech guru

#1 Teks are not written in stone.
a newbie should follow a proven tek as closely as possible to get good results... and they will be less likely to fail.
after they get a few grows under their belts they can start altering teks to their liking...IMHO

Roadkill. I dont exactly agree.. Im a newby and i feel prepared at this point to carry out my process my way. As long as you understand the reasond for things like sterility, fresh air exchange, etc and understand the methods that are employed by others, you could very easily come up with a plan of action that is uniqe to your specific grow.
I may be doing that thing where i assume everyone understands things the first time the hear/read them tho..

Yes, my comprehension is top notch, and my method will be based on proven practices and tested technuques.
I understand the process (wich is why i wrote this tek) well enough to put it in to practice with a great deal of confidence. I do agree that someone that is not as confident in their knowledge may want to follow the letter of a tek, but for me its about understanding the concepts and building a procedure based on those core concepts.

Knowledge is not a substitute for experience either, but better to confident and knowledgeable when embarking on a new adventure, than be fearful and ignorant. I believe the same rules will also apply when im enjoying the fruits of my labor.
