Maybe, is the only logical answer.

'Maybe".....pffft...

"why not" is the only logical conclusion...

As far as we know- we have the only deciding factor.

"Why am I in this body?"

EDITED:

'You cannot explain why i am me, or why you are 'supposeedly' you; therefore, you cannnot prove any explanation of why we are were we are.

Threfore, we did not choose our bodies..... WE did not choose this life.., as far as we know. Therefore, there was some other decider, which will decide again!- or, if we choose- we will decide again, and then forget.

This a question not an answer.
I am not going to enter in the details in how pointless thins question seems to me because it would take a lot and I don't feel like doing it, but getting back to the original subject... can you explain yourself?
Through reasoning?

those that have clinically died have told stories of life after death..but others argue that clinically dying is different because death is a pemanent condition..i never really believe anything anymore..i used to steadfastly deny any notions of life after death...but im more open to the idea now

Why?
Why does there have to be a why?
I think that what happens is that you might have been hearing different ideas about the afterlife and now you're just repeating them. I am not judging you, I am just trying to make you more aware on where your thoughts originate and therefore shed some light into your mind.
The idea of the afterlife sounds appealing and that's the reason why, when we hear different theories about it, do anything to find some sense in the "explanations" we receive.
The truth is that if we really decide to use the good old logic when it comes to these matters, we realize that all those theories are a combination on emotional bull shit and some well known facts which make the entire matter seem more credible.
The truth is that we don't know if there's such a thing as an after life or not.
Enjoy the life you have. :mushroom2:

ORIGINALLY!!! this was a simple question of what you beilve....:

Will we continue after this life.. or not?

-I mean to say that none of us died" to answer you that question seems to me to say that this is the first ME, and the only ME. Whic to me seems bullshit. To limit yourself- for the universe" to limit yourself to one shell seems pointless- no progress can be made in only one shell. So a continuation of some sort of self seems to me tghe only reasonable explanation.

I agree that we do not know!!! -this thread was a simple opinionated asmwer of either yes or no!

Either you do or do no belive in an afterlife.

it is pointless to try to prove or disprove an afterlife- so all i wanted was a yeh or neh.

Define 'the afterlife' before we can answer yes or no. What do you mean by 'continue'?

I see where you're coming from but personal beliefs have nothing to do with philosophy.
Remaining circumspect about the existence of the after life is not limiting oneself, but acknowledging that we really have no clue.
For the record, my personal and illogical opinion is that there might be something more. However, I try to take to account all the other factors which could have influenced my opinion and I think that there's a possibility that I feel this way because on some level, I WANT the after life to be true.

when ur body as you know it dies..... will you no longer exist in any form whatsoever!?!- which would be an answer for no afterlife....

Or when your body as you know it dies... Will you or your conciousness continue in one form or another- wheather your now body realizes it or not- will you continue on? Wheather your state- as it is now realized by itself and recognizes a next state, or if it stops the current state- forgets all knowledge of this state- and creates a new mind- being- just for a new 'self'.

Will 'I' continue?

I am an American male of a certain, height, weight, age with certain relational connections and certain likes and dislikes and hobbies and memories and so forth.

Which part of that 'I' do you propose will continue?
