Just rained for two days straight..

It just rained at a pretty solid rate all of yesterday and the better part of today. After a good rain, is it best to go hunting right away or give it a day or two? I was planning on going Friday night but if it's best RIGHT after the rain I'd probably have some good luck after 48 hours of rain.
Should I hit up the farms around town tonight, Friday night, at all? Any suggestions or ideas are appreciated

Alright, solid!! Thanks for the tips. Is it better in wood chips or pastures after the rain? I would imagine it doesn't matter too much, rain's rain & spores are spores, but always good to know where to look.

Probably has something to do with all the rain that has been falling recently. I swear, that stuff is the bomb.

I appreciate the help and attitude. I'm not what you'd call a "board regular" but a little respect never killed anyone.
And thanks again for the help guys. I'll be checking the woods/woodchips later this week. Possibly hitting up a few fields into the weekend. Thanks again, and if any mods feel that this is just another "lame thread clogging up the forum" feel free to close it down. I was just looking for a little advice.

Northwoods let me explain why certain posts get nasty responses. For some reason on almost every drug related forum there are a massive number of posts that either break the rules or contribute very little. The rules are very clear about discussing weather conditions and or asking for advice on "where to look" or "whats better A or B". Most of this can be found in the FAQ or by searching the forum. Try not to take this too personally but it gets really really old. The result is always the same, someone responds with some comment that offends the poster, usually about their noob status or pointless post. Give the rules a read.
Sorry for the rambling, I had some poppy tea earlier.

yeah dont talk to me about respect when u clearly have not read the forum rules... please...
Quote:
5. Do not make threads for the discussion of weather, conditions, or rain alone. This includes complaining about the weather or asking if the current weather is "good for shrooms". As a general rule of thumb, if it has rained within the last 2-3 days, and the temperatures are correct for the type of mushroom you're looking for, then *yes* it is possible that the mushroom you are looking for is growing. Threads that are made for the discussion of weather alone will be locked or deleted.
6. No asking WHEN or WHERE mushrooms, or a specific mushroom species will grow. This includes, asking what habitat a mushroom[s] can be found- or their preferred fruiting conditions. This can be very simply answered by using the "search posts" feature: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/search.php Asking if "now is a good time to look for mushrooms". Or how long to wait after rain fall to go hunting. Each mushroom species has a different rate of growth- some mushrooms, like Ganoderma species, take quite a while to mature, compared to mushrooms like Conocybe, which take only one night to show up, and mature, and are all shriveled by the end of the next day. Conversely, Ganoderma persist for months, only disappearing when the bark beetle infestation has done enough damage, that the fruiting body falls to the ground, and slowly gets eaten away, and any remainder, crumbles into the top soil. These issues are sort of redundant, as addressed in rules #4 and #5, yet needed to be explained more concisely, due to many people seeing these questions as loop-holes since they were not directly described.
