    #7523602 - 10/16/07 02:51 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

I found some Amanitas the other day and I was wondering if people would recommend smoking them. Ive heard it can be quite a enjoyable experience but just wondering what people would recommend. Probably smoke it with a bit of mj if i did.

Well here are some links:

http://www.clearwhitelight.org/hatter/amanita.htm

Also here, http://peyote.com/jonstef/flyagaric.htm that says:

A. muscaria can be taken orally and there are also some claims that it can be smoked for effect. All parts of the mushroom are psychoactive, though there is some evidence that the material just under the skin is the most potent.

and I don't mean the whole thing, just the skin. i just wanted to hear if people would recommend it or think it would be pointless... thanks.

I know people who have smoked amanitas, I think it's a lot more legit an idea than smoking psilocybes.

I kept reading threads like this one until I just thought wtf? I already had some on hand so it wasn't any trouble. I smoked a nice sized bowl. Got some ringing in my ears. May or may not have been the agaric. Didn't notice any other effects. Never tried again. If I need to smoke more than that then screw it. I've got too many better things to smoke.

Could you post a picture of the Amanita you found? Are you 100% positive that your ID is correct? Just making sure, I don't wanna see anyone get hurt...

Well, unfortunatley i dnt have any pictures of it and its to late to take one now because ive already taken the red skin off and its drying now, im almost 100% sure it is an Amanita Muscaria. The top of the cap is dark red as opposed to the lookalike that is orange, it has a tall stem with a swollen base, its gills are white and its spore print was VERY faint, almost completely white.

Also i would eat them but can't really be botherd to put up with the sweating, muscle spasms and at large doses coma like sleep that comes with taking it, lol

Yeah, it's really best not to risk it with any sort of Amanita... It just might cost you your life.

Heya,

A. muscaria should be pretty easy to ID as the same bright red colour can't really be found from other Amanitas.. only paler shades of orange and brown.

To the smoking then.. I've smoked juice of the mushroom infused to some herb aswell as the peeled red skin with no effects except for getting sore throat for smoking too much. Ah well, maybe A BIT lightheaded, but I had taken a few beers beforehand

I haven't been able to get any effects for eating them either tho. I've taken as much as 8 grams of cap oven dried in mild (50-100C) heat with no effects whatsoever. Propably there is huge variation of potency in which many factors, at least drought/wet, affect. But I really don't KNOW much more about it.. I've already abandoned A. muscaria for getting high, just enjoying it's great looks, and turned to genus Psilocybe!

well i have to say make sure what you got is right you should post pics in hunting forum. Second smoking isnt really good unless mixing em with herb or smoking em during the come up or while on them. third AMANITA ARENT FOR GETTING HIGH!!! get that notion out of your mind or your most likely to have a shitty or bad horrible time. i really suggest eating em but if you not down for it then good luck, but i doubt your gona find what your looking for via smoking em.

I've smoked dried muscaria (var. formosa) skins a few times.

it's ok, I think I felt some mild effects. I got a headache too though.
it also tastes like ass. not that great, but I'd say it's worth trying.

I like smoking them with my weed occassionally. It relieves the drymouth, and seems to make the high "broader", more visual, and more clear-headed. Nice combination.

What I've been using is siberian amanita incense, which I understand is much more concentrated.

Ye, I'm sure its an Amanita Muscaria. I was gonna smoke the skins with a bit of MJ not by itself. I'll try it and see what happens. Also I'm not expecting the same sort of trip as magic mushrooms because its not psilocybe your putting in your body. I'm just interested in what it will be like.

The stuff I have looks more like a "resin" than a mushroom. I think I read somewhere that a solvent is used to absorb the actives from dried amanitas, then evaporated to form a solid.

From IAMSHAMAN:
Quote:

This is Amanita muscaria 10X black resin extract, technically called an "acetate" because amanitas do not produce resin like traditional plants do. This extract is crafted from our Amanita Mixed Caps using a water extraction method, and unlike other venders, we use only the Amanita Caps to prepare this extract, without the stems or legs.

I should add that I don't smoke very much with my weed. I usually smoke just one bowl of weed, around 0.1 gram, and I add about 1/4 to 1/2 that much amanita incense. I originally bought 3 grams, and I think I still have 2 remaining. Also, the smoke from the incense doesn't taste good.

I'd prefer to pick my own too. It's not for lack of looking, I just can't seem to find any. Lots of other mushrooms growing around here, and I'm sure amanitas too, but I haven't been able to find any good guides that explain how to find amanita muscaria. I suspect the next few weeks will be the best time (lots of rain here), so I'll spend some more time looking.

bryan u need the base of the stem to properly ID also with deadly ones only a small small amount is enough to kill. tho recently theres been poisonings which lethal doses have been taken and people have lived with hospitalization but still that doesnt mean be careless you can and most likely will die

If its orange DO NOT eat it. Looks very similar to Amanita Muscaria but is fatal. Thats the only thing i was worried about when looking for A. Muscaria, that i would accidentally pick the poisonous look-alike. Also, i dried the skins of the A. Muscaria and smoked them today. Was quiet weird, had a very small effect on me however not worth going to the trouble of finding the shroom then drying out the skins for it.

Where do you get your info? Muscaria can be yellow, orange, red... Shit, I've consumed 4 whole yellow/orange the past 3 days and I'm still alive. Destroying Angels are all white, Right?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

well you know how amanitas kills? the first days after eating deadly amanitas you won't feel anything. the stomach pains kick in after three-four days after your liver is destroyed and your stomach acid eats you from the inside or something like that. but then it's too late for any medical assistance.

and yes, eventually you, me and everyone we know, will die.

Second, Can you see rings around the bottom of the stem, if so thats a good sign.

Oh yeah, don't eat them raw. Dry it out, then grind it up. Keep the water on the verge of boiling, let them steep for 45 minutes, strain and enjoy.
