hey everyone,i recently tried spawning wbs to coir using using oatman2000's tek I've read that you need to incubate at room temps so i put the casings in a dark cabinet and it's been 13 days and there very slow to colonize.is this normal for coir to take this long or is my house too cold for colonization thanks

coco-coir, probably prepared will colonize fully after about 7-10 days. Common culprits for slow colonization are inadequate gas exchange and/or the substrate being too wet - which, ultimate cause inadequate gas exchange.
I also recommend incubating any bulk substrate in the 72-74(F) range because of the (relatively) large amounts of heat they put off while colonizing the substrate.
Gut says they can't breathe, one way or another. Describe your tub/tray and how you've got it covered / wrapped up during this incubation process.

Did you spawn to the coir or case to the coir? Also, I don't think you will need much gas exchange at this stage.

that should be all you need. My trays usually have six little cigarette sized holes that were covered with micropore tape and then rub wet with alcohol.
My second guess would be it's initial water content...
I did go look up Oatman2000's Spawning to COIR TEK that you said you followed. He's a little vague on his water content - other than his recommendation on how to hydrate it out of brick form... After that point, did you make sure that the whole batch of coir was a "field capacity", no more...no less?
--- After that, we can look at spawn ratios (how much spawn to how much substrate, in units of volume please) but it could be anything from a slowly colonizing sub-strain to a residual contaminate in the substrate causing the slowdown. But the first two suspects are typically gas exchange and water content...

relly it depends on the ratio that you use a 1part spawn to 3 parts coir will colonize a lot faster than 1 part spawn to 10 parts coir is a lot slower
I fully colonized and friuted a 1-3 in 12 days my 1-10 is about 90% colonized in 16 days
