Visions
    #7521874 - 10/16/07 12:49 AM (16 years, 5 months ago)

What is your interpretation of a vision?

What is it to go on a vision quest?

One of my good friends is native and told me some interesting stories about what goes on in his family. Fasting, alone in the woods for days, "vision quest".

What is this vision quest they speak of?

Is it imagination, created by mind, 3rd eye activation, a butterfly breaking out of cocoon, a seed becoming a flower, fluff?

So many visions, yet I know nothing.

vision is awareness of more of what is.
additional patterns emerge.
speculation is not vision.
after a vision quest one can be more grounded.
coming away with speculations and theories is not the purpose IMO.
being more connected in your mind is the purpose IMO.

My so called Vision quests have always turned out to be a call to face my personal demons. I never got a vision proper. They were always worthwhile.

proper
in most lanuguages means clean or personal
in english it got the
extra connotation of
approved or normative wrt societal norms.

with visions I find "adding nothing" or "clean" is the way to go.
your own thing is the proper thing

anyway turning it into dialog is usually no good at all.

agreed, it definitely isn't.  although it is so tempting for the mind to indulge in looking back at the experience.  eeaaassy mind

Indeed. I think we see a lot of that in the posting around here. Drawing unwarranted speculations so as to aggrandize ones experience.

true, it is something I do at times... something I should be more aware of? but a few of those experiences were so big, or profound, that I can't help it at times. learning.

Come on, who hasn't done this? I certainly have for most of my life. At a certain point if lucky, one comes to realize that just breathing in and out is fucking unbelievable. All this other non-sense we all do is because we are mostly asleep and don't notice what is in front of our senses, or, we just don't feel comfortable with the immensity of the chaos of eternity so we bring it down to our petty little comfort zone. :monkeydance:

me? a proper laddie?
(grin)

anyway
it's easy when it's easy (a little entho help)
later you can draw on the fact that you have previously suspended the dialog
in order to let vision build again, or to let memory serve
(experiential memory vs dialog memory)
