Psilocybe cubensis [GT] on dung/straw compost, cased with coir.
    #752133 - 07/16/02 08:38 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

Hey guys, well this is a contiunation of my first GT growlog, I thought Id just start a new one because now they are finally pinning.

These are not pictures of magic mushrooms, rather a species of Agrocybe aegerita.

*Edit by Anno:*
The link to the previous post is:
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=Growlog&Number=716921

I had some pictures over the past few days, but accidently deleted them...er DOH! It was cool to see them mature over the days...

Anyways, 2 pints colonized birdseed was used to spawn two different containers of a 30% straw and 70% manure mixture. A light layer of coco was added to help fight off any contams. Containers were then colonized 100%, and another casing was added.

By 4 days in the fruiting chamber, pins were present. This is the 9th day, and pins are 1/4 inch to 1 inch in length.

I havent grown GT?s before, and I now know why they get the name "Golden Teachers". The stems are extremely gold...which is very pretty. Usually cube?s stems are pure white.

So here are a few pictures, my DSL is down so Im using a backup dialup connection...

Well, here is what It looked like before I set it into fruiting....

And a few days later:

I?ll try to update over the next few days!

Thanks guys!!

Well here are two more pics. I dont have enough time to wait for them to upload and stuff cause Im going to work soon. This damn dialup is so sluggish...

I?ll update them later on tonight.

A little blurry, but you get the idea.

I think the humidity is a little too high, the mycelium is looking so healthy though!

Beautiful! Look at that crazy ass mycelium...that shit is writhing! I just got my first GTs in the makins yesterday. Is that ultra rhizomorphic mycelium typical of the GTs? I can wait to see yours finish. I dig the way GTs look. They are the linemen of the cube team.

that is crazy! Same exact thing happened to me early this week. Luckily, I have a ghost image made after the last install/optimization; took half an hour to get everything reinstalled (drivers and all).

Great pics!!

FD: Yes, I got them but I think I was really drunk at the time. You should ask them again, on the boards cause I hate answering the same question 4-10 times a week.

Meat: Im using manual misting and manual fanning. The tape is just there for aestetic purposes only. Nah, I used it to hold up my hydgrometer from sitting in the water. The hose is a fish tank pump that pumps in air to lower humidity actually for fruiting, plus the extra air exchanges are nice for them.

Anyways, the first casing is maturing nicely. Heres some pictures for you?re viewing pleasure. The second casing is probably a good 12-18 hours behind for some reason.

The GT?s seem really small...I mean, they are on 3 inches of dung, and they are still a lot smaller than flushes that Ive gotten off of just plain ol PF tek casings!

That third pic is awsome, some of the best lookin mushrooms iv seen!

Alright well all my PMs consisted of the same questions....

I had noticed that you had like 2 PR grow logs, which makes you the main PR grower on here . I currently have a PR casing that just wont pin. All my conditions are right for pinning except that my temp is usually around incubation temps. I cant cool the terr with the AC or with ice packs so thats a big prob! Also i wanted to ask what helps PRs pin easyer? What can be done to stop overlay from occuring with PRs because they overlay very easy . Any magical voo-doo tricks that i should try to help the PRs along?

Thanks
Fd

EDIT- If they get near overlay can i add another 1/4" layer of verm(its a straight verm casing) to stop it?

temprature is very important.
and if you cannot control it, i suggest you find a way to overcome your climate....

possible solution:
get an igloo ice chest, large size.. use it for a terrarum. great insulator.
getting that 75F is important for good flushes, and on finicky strains.. (such as PR?) you may get no flushes with a temp it dislikes... that or very weak ones.

OK here are some pictures from yesterday afternoon, and this afternoon. I didnt have time to pick them on time, so they got a little over-matured. Still pretty beautiful looking mushrooms though!

Please don?t. Allways use only 1 thread for 1 Growlog... Otherwise the archiving of those threads will be a tedious task...
