Went for a walk today along the river =)
#1
Habitat - Wood Gills - Light brown.. almost gray Stem - Whitish Cap - Orange, Feels very wet and smooth Spore Print - working on it.. Bruising - Edges of the cap turn the color of the gills. No apparent blue or green bruises though. Location - South Western Idaho. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say the city.

#2
Slugs got to these ones before me, they're pretty mangled... #2, #3, #4 were not found next to #1. Doing spore prints now. They seem to have warts on the caps like amanitas?

#3

#4

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

I didn't see anything striking my eye as an active gym. I've seen gym's grow like #2 but the orange in the gills is always very prominent, you can usually tell spore print color easily before a spore print. Also look for fibers on the caps, sort of like a fuzzy felt/velvet material. It can also sometimes have no fibers, I find the purple luteofolius have tons of fibers.

Thanks, I didn't realize it until you said something, but all of them except #1 feel like theres velvet fuzz on the caps. I cant see it, but you can definitely tell by touch.
Even if they aren't active, it gets my hopes up. I've only been hunting a few times but now I know the type of areas to look, and the forecast says rain

Prominent obvious orange gills and growing on wood chips or a log is much more important though then the fibers.

Hmm.. Spore prints turned out brown. I was looking around on Matchmaker and maybe its not even a Gym, but Pholiota destruens? The cap on #2 has turned a shiny gold color and I can peel the skin off. Hell I dont know.
