Well, as long as you know what you're doing in Kelowna. I was just worried that you had never been there and were from Ontario or something, thinking it was a great place from the tourist pictures. Enjoy. You wouldn't catch me dead in that town. I like most parts of BC, just not Kelowna (or Abbotsford... basically any sprawling not-quite-a-real-city.)

I've been to kelowna before and really enjoyed the outdoors (surrounding wilderness), that is all that really matters to me. the reason i am thinking kelowna is because it has labor ready, if i need to work for a day i can. rather than try to find a job myself they will find a job for me for the day. if Nelson had a labor ready, i would be there.

I assume you're not interested in the coast... because vancouver and victoria also have labour ready, and other similar agencies. There's one on main and broadway in Vancouver, whose name escapes me since I haven't used it in so long, that is particularly good, friendly and fair.
I bet Nelson is an easy town to be homeless in though, I've never been but they've got that whole hippie thing going on there big time. I bet you'd hook up with people that had good connections and you could probably do farm work for extra cash on a casual basis. Just a guess. It might be worth looking into. You could also consider wwoofing (willing workers on organic farms.) It's slightly more stable than outright homelessness, but close enough. A good transition anyways.
I assume you're familiar with one of the most useful skills in the ultra low budget arsenal - dumpstering...?

there is no way I'm dumpstering - thats why i stress there must be a labor ready or some other way of doing temporary work. i like your idea about farm work in Nelson, will look into it. have thought about wwoofing but not too interested at this time.

Dumpstering isn't bad dude. It's not as easy and tidy as walking into a grocery store, but it's not terrible. You can find some great stuff in the dumpsters of grocery stores and bakeries. I don't do it anymore because I'm living the high life on a student loan, but I wouldn't rule it out either. If you know the right dumpsters it's decent. There was an organic grocery store I used to go to that always had happy planet juice in the dumpster, as well as fancy $6 a loaf breads among other things. Once thier freezer broke down and some friends got something like 30 frozen pizzas and about as much icecream. They threw it out before it even began to thaw so it was perfect when my friends found it. In another town there was this one specialty bakery that would fill garbage bags with nothing but bread that was sometimes still warm when my friends got there.
You can also ask places if they have anything they are throwing out and they'll just give it to you instead of putting it in the garbage. I once got several boxes of gourmet pastries this way.
Don't rule it out is all I'm saying.
