Stungun laws specifically in Nevada and California

I'm trying to find the laws on whether I need a license or not to possess this item. All the sites that I have gone to, for some reason say "n/a" for Nevada.
http://mysite.verizon.net/gizmo1966/stun-gun-laws.html
In California it says: Legal Cannot possess taser in state or local public building or public open meeting (171b (a) (5)) or in sterile area of airport (171.5)
what constitutes a "local public building" though? Do they mean in public at all, or are they referring specifically to city hall and government related buildings?
http://www.beststungun.com/stun-gun-laws.html
If I can't get a definitive answer online I'll probably just visit the police station and ask em.

Besides, if your gona carry a tazer your friends will make fun of you at some point.

Everyone has the right to self defense. Visit AR15.com/forums for the answer to your question... You should post your question in the "Hometown" section of the forums.
FWIW, Kalifornia is fucked in so many ways.
I would be surprised if you were even allowed to own "so much as a swiss army knife" in that communist country, I mean state, no wait... I was right the first time.

cali aint that bad, i called the sacremento branch of the state police to talk to them about the states gun laws, and they said that as long as i didnt have a sawed off shot gun or semi auto ak-47 i was in the clear.
just call the state police, they'll be happy to help
i know that in nevada they allow open carryng of firearms, pistols, etc without any permits, so im sure that a stun gun can be carried anywhere you can carry a handgun.

The main motivator for my first post, was because you stated that if you can't find the info elsewhere, you will ask the local PD.
That's the perfect way to get disinformation. Don't bother with them, trust me.
As for the above poster, you were told lies. Again, I recommend going to the link I provided. . .

Crystal G, stun guns suck. They are not good weapons for defence. Despite what you've seen in movies, stun guns really don't do jack shit except piss somebody off.
Pepper spray, on the other hand, is quite effective.

Absolutely correct for the lower voltage ones. Once you get up to the 250,000V to 500,000V range the story changes a bit. However, it is illegal to have the high voltage ones in most areas (go figure).

Pepper spray can be pretty good, but it is difficult to use in confined spaces (indoors) without nuking yourself as well. Not all pepper spray are equal... some are pretty wimpy while others will make you wish you were dead.

if you go with pepper spray, go for the bear pepper spray.. its like 10 times stronger, if you get caught with it just say you are deathly afraid of being attacked by bears.

um, yeah. i just spent the night at some crazy cokehouse where a bunch of dealers were talking about the assault/murder charges they were facing and some of them began lifting up their shirts and comparing knife wounds to each other... seriously retarded, dont ask me how the hell i ended up there, but i came to the conclusion that: 1) if somebody wants to fuck you up, THEY WILL REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU HAVE. 2) unless you are in the privacy of your own home, carrying concealed weapons on you when you have drugs on you is a VERY BAD IDEA. if you ever get caught by the police with drugs AND a weapon, you will be classified into the same group as those "people" mentioned above (the decline of western society that is), and get imposed a significantly harsher sentence, than if you get caught with drugs alone. the fact that i am female may give me leeway for some dinky pepper spray, but thats really not going to get me far.
In short, if you REALLY wanna protect yourself, get a dumb posse (and make sure these people are REAL FUCKING DUMB) that would be willing to pull a shank or gun on someone JUST to defend you, AKA "their homie."
god i hate cokeheads. huge egos, talking fucking nonstop and they never listen to a word you say.

All of your posts make me LOL.

I've owned a stungun in the past (before it got confiscated) and it's effective for well, stunning somebody. When you're being electrocuted, you can't move much because of the muscle spasms. You're supposed to press it against a major body part like a chest cavity or the neck for a minimum of 5 seconds, and push your attacker to the ground... While they are down, that's when you make a run for it.
but again, stunguns are quite bulky, and if i were to ever get patted down by an officer they would easily find it (since i know in the US they are allowed to pat you down but only for weapons)... and then once they find a weapon that would give them leeway to search for more "inconspicuous items" if you catch my drift. i dunno, its quite a gamble... maybe ill be armed (legally) only when i have nothing else on me.

Open carry of handguns is allowed in Nevada without a permit. Also concealed carry with permit and NRA class. All handgun carries require a blue card (registration). Machine guns are legal in NV with proper ATF registration. So I doubt stunguns are an issue. You can buy em in headshops if my memory serves me right. I wouldn't worry about it.
I wouldn't ask the cops, I'd hit a gunstore instead. They know more about gunlaws etc. then the cops do.
