Spore Print Colonization?

is it possible to fold a spore print into a tin foil envelope and then, using rye, pour the print into the substrate and shake well? i dont have the materials to do a syringe and would love an easier method. will this work? or will any variation of this simplified method work?

In THEORY your idea works like a charm. In the real world avoiding contamination is almost unavoidable.
What you could do is take a piece of metal wire, flame it red-hot to sterilize, quench it in sterile water, streak the wet wire across a corner of the spore print and then stab your grain with it.
The moisture will make the wire pick up some clumps of spores, which will be transferred to the grain, and start growing mycelium.

Why the ?
Transferring spores from the gills of a mushroom or a sporeprint, to Agar, using a metal wire "loop" has been standard cultivation practice for over half a century.
Doing the same to grain would work just as well.

it just seems unnecessary because of LC and the usual spore syringe teks.

thanks guys, sounds like the wire will be my choice of inoculation. sound easy enough, but must i do this inside a glove chamber to avoid contam? or will a clean room with some oust do well enough? ... hmm i would have to take the lid of the sterilized jar, which is a huge risk (i think?) and then poke and prod inside it for a minute, unless there is better way...
answer that question ^, then i have a thought
what if i made the print of foil, folded, then unfolded and dropped the foil into the jar, shaking until it reaches the top again and pull it out??? still a contam issue? im not positive on how anal i have to be for it to be safe.

Because you will have your jars prepared when you put the spores in it's a good idea to scrape into the jar w/ the needle. Aluminum foil has much more surface area for contams to adhere to than spores.

Farm supply stores have syringes right on the shelfs in the Veterinary department... I'd look there, eventually your gonna wanna work with syringes.. Maybe if you plan on this being your only grow you could try scraping spores into your jars in a steril enviroment. But they wont be very well hydrated and germination will be slow. For now you could scrap the spores into an LC and then the time it takes for you to get some sryinges will be time for the LC to colonize.

Make a small hole in the lid first, cover with aluminium foil, then sterilize. Then you simply lift the foil and stick the wire through the hole.

and then poke and prod inside it for a minute
One poke will do, then retrieve and fold the foil over the lid again.
