Helo, just wondering what the best way to store the mushrooms i pick are? Up til now i've been using 'dodgy bags' (freezer bags) but they tend to lose the moisture and go all mankey.
Jw what you lot use.

Store fresh mushrooms in a paper bag in the fridge. No longer than a week. For longer storage, they must be dried.
If you put fresh mushrooms in a plastic bag... well, I guess you could just wait to see what happens

Thanks for the reply, yeah i experienced some foul smelling slimey shrooms a little while ago
I was thinking more along the lines of when you go picking though.

drying them would be the best way. make a little makeshift screen out of wire mesh or cheese cloth or something and stick 'em over a fan for a few days. then seal them up and stick them in the freezer.
if you want to keep them actually fresh fresh, then just wrap them in a paper towel or paper bag and stick em in the fridge. they'll keep for maybe a week.
edit: ahhhh slow.

For picking when hunting, a paper bag would be good. They are opaque so as to not see the contents, you can stuff it in your pocket if you need to, or ditch it. Just not plastic.

no, they don't need to. but if you want really long-term storage, then it couldn't hurt. dry powdered mushies in a vacuum sealed freezer bag in a glass jar, they'll stay good and potent for years.
