Seed sprouts in Shredded Wheat?

The title says it all pretty much. I'm on my spawn run with Redboy spawned to 10:1 shredded wheat to horse poo. After checking 5 days from spawning I noticed that seedling sprouts were coming up. I know obviously that I didn't soak long enough to get them to germinate and then die while being pasteurized.
So now to my problem/concern. The seedlings are competing for nutrients and obviously I don't want my mycelium to have to compete. So how do I go about ridding these sprouts, as I've already opened the cover and plucked them twice, but is there any other method to stop them from growing or should I just keep removing them as I have been?

I'd say that anything you did to kill them would hurt the mycelium. I'd just weed as necessary.

first you should have sterilized after soaking, that would have killed the grains. with that being said, i think you should go over your processes more, and read that to the T. after that dont forget to use sterile techniques while inoculating, and what not. read, read, read!!! I follow the techs to the T and once you PC your grains for the appropriate time they are dead. no growth. you did it wrong.
If you did do that, and you still got sprouts you didn't pasturize enough, or effecitively.
just My Opinion, but i'm pretty sure it's right.

I appreciate your input Crimson, but your coming off as I don't know what I'm doing and am a total noob. I may not be on here much and have little posts, but I do grow with good success rates. Teks are proven methods that offer guidelines, they don't necessarily need to be followed to the "T" as you so put it.
Not to point fingers, but you my friend are the one that is off base. Sterlizing kills everything, even beneficial microbes that help prevent contams/aid mycelium which can result in bacterial blooms and ultimately failure. This was my first attempt working with majority straw since my poo supply ran low and a filler was needed. Needless to say I know to remove as many as possible, I simply said ehhh lettem be.
If you don't believe me, read the teks I've linked below and you should read them over. I've read plenty, seems maybe you haven't.

The seedlings will not compete for nutrients with your mushroom mycelium.
Plants and fungi are different organisms with different nutrient requirements. The biggest danger from the seedlings if you don't pick them will be that they develop powdery mildew from the high humidity, and that mold can then spread to the substrate. RR

Dammit, I just read your second post. I opened this post thinking you were growing shrooms on breakfast cereal, but your second post says that with shredded wheat you mean straw.
I though someone was trying something new. Horse poo and Fruit Loops would have been fun.

I grow on rice bran breakfast cereal all the time. Mixed with spent coffee grinds it is a great brf substitute for 1/2 pint jars. RR

Thanks for the clarification RR. I searched on this topic and read that they will compete, and my logic thought as well once the seeds have pasted the point of germinating and taking root that they would begin to as the substrate is mixed with hpoo and plants love it. But I'm glad to hear that it won't, I want my mycelium to be numero uno among the food chain. My mistake on writing wheat instead of straw but the idea is the same.
On another note whats the best way to prevent my situation from happening again? Besides proper pasteurizing and removing seeds before hand?
Thanks RR, good to know about coir and breakfast cereal to. Something I must try.
