something about how severe climate change would *probably* cause mass movement of humans and political strife...apparently all this proselytizing is a pre-emptive peace strike.

still not convinced. the relationship between his activities and world peace is unclear and indistinct.
how has his doubting of basic cornerstones of the current civilization contributed in any way to peace?

asking the same question twice isn't going to get you a different answer.

The nobel peace price has been used as a political tool of the left for years. It is meaningless. They gave Arafat one for god sake.

I suspected the Nobel Peace Prize was about as worthless as used toilet paper after they awarded one to Arafat... giving one to Gore for creative movie making pretty much nails the coffin shut; the Nobel Peace Prize should be renamed to the Nobel Political Prize.

Let me try:
I suppose awareness of a problem all nations face (and whose solution cannot be provided by any one government) could potentially cause nations to cooperate who otherwise wouldn't.
Some might argue that as human beings begin to face extinction, we will see less and less animosity between each other, less xenophobia, more compassion.
I'm not really convinced that any such awards are meaningful, but that's probably where they're coming from.

Yes, because we all know that when there isn't enough to go around humans tend to share rather than get greedy...

I agree with you, I was just trying to figure out how Al Gore's movie promotes world peace

Partisanship! It doesn't matter what you argue about, you just have to disagree with the other party.

thank you Al Gore for informing the world of the dangers posed by climate change. pretty much nothing is being done to reduce our apparent impact on it, but here, have a trophy..

What I am vehemently opposed to is the religion of global warming as espoused by the knucklehead's movie. It is NOT by any means established that human activity is causing it, could cause it, or even that higher carbon levels would cause it (the causality arrow points in the opposite direction, i.e. that higher temps cause higher CO2 levels: "The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.") http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2007/10/09/court-identifies-eleven-inaccuracies-al-gore-s-inconvenient-truth

Why? And just what do you think can be done about it? CO2 is not a byproduct, it is an end product, and it's role in global warming, if there is such a thing, is dubious at best.
