Why are you drying them in an oven? Are you just trying to save time? Otherwise it seems unnecessary.

It's actually not a bad idea as far as I know. San Pedro chunks don't air dry as fast as you might think and you could possibly end up with some of it rotting if you leave it sitting out wet for too long. Although, I'm sure it wouldn't be much of an issue if you cut it into thin strips.
Still, as long as 200 degrees isn't gonna do anything to the mescaline you may as well pop it in the oven or something similar. I just got a dehydrator and that's probably the first thing I'll end up using it for.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. depends on how thin the strips you cut are. Just check it frequently until they are dry.
Eventually you may want to just turn off the oven, and walk away. It will stay hot in there for a good long while after you turn it off, but not hot enough to burn the cactus.

swim would like to know this as well. swim has some fresh cut skins needing some attention for the next step...
if swim filet-cut the greenest of green skin away from the core, still attached to the waxy skin.... would the oven be okay?
using 100cm of fresh SP on a 6 ribbed specimen... and counting a strip as the skin between the 'valley' and the 'edge'... that's 12 strips per 25cm cutting, and 4 cuttings = 120 strips.
weight of each strip ? unknown
any idea how many grams dry this would be?
