'..or they THINK they know better than a professional mycologist.'
Your fucking head is on back-the-front Max! Your post makes no sense - how can someone disagree with this quote - it is in obvious context.
You obviously havent seen cubensis fruit in its natural environment because when you find gold-tops - such as those wollongong of yours who were picked originally by a friend - you always find rhizos poping out of the manure pile.
The rhizos penetrate the dung, reach a point where they break the surface of the manure, and respond to the sudden light and air-exchange by fruiting.
Go back and grow some more of your coneheads - which im sure we will all one day see....one day

and if your suggesting that it is I who thinks they know better than a professional mycologist (being Stamets) then yeah - heres one for you.
Stamets quotes Cleland and Guzman as suggesting that Psilocybe Subaeruginosa has brown pigmented pluerocystidia - i know someone who has examined some of the original specimens that both Guzman and Cleland worked with when defining this species and they have hyaline pleurocystidia.
Stamets also suggests that Australiana is a mildly potent species - again not true as he suggests that Subaeruginosa is highly potent when in fact Australiana tends to be the same potency as Subaeruginosa.

You need very little light, just a tiny bit (anykind) to tell them to grow up and not squiggle everwhere.
