so i haven't seen much here at the shroomery about running/runners..
any of you guys big on running?
how often do you do it? how many miles do you do at a time?...in a week? what is your longest run at once?
I'm just curious to see if there are any other running freaks on here...
as for me, i started when i was in 6th grade...ran pretty much nonstop until i graduated high school...then i got into drugs a lot and took off a couple years...
but for the last couple months i have been getting back into it a lot and i fucking love it...it just gives me so much time to think and reflect...its great...ive been running 4 to 7 days a week. 2 to 4 miles at a time until i get better...i cant believe i used to seriously run 10 miles a day!...my longest run without stopping was 16 miles!...cant wait to get there again..
also i cant help but notice how much it reminds me of the psychedelic experience...all i do when i run is think think think, and it is sooo timeless...also it is sooo mental...i am positive that tripping has helped me since my high school running days because i used to have such a terrible mental block and thought i sucked...now i am muchhhh better with this
i cant wait to ponder running the next time i am on mushrooms or LSD!
so how about you sons of bitches?

I've been running regularly for 4 years now, and i love it! Ditto on the time to reflect and think. When you get into that runners high, it's almost meditation.
To be honest, I have no idea how far I run. I just run! But it's almost an hour or a little bit more constant.
But the weather is getting shitty now... overcast days.. chilly winds. Kinda puts a downer on running. I hear running in the winter is amazing, maybe I'll give it a shot this year. I usually head inside to the stationary bikes when the cold hits.
Trail running, now that's the shit.

dude running while you are high is fun...
i love weed, and it doesnt seem to affect my running at all...
ive never been a normal cigarette smoker, but i have smoked them before and i would always notice a shorness of breath with them even if i was only fucking running up a flight of stairs...
a good friend of mine started smoking weed much earlier than i did, and he ran cross country for his high school...he and i ran similar workouts and times and he was smoking weed the entire time...
running a nice fuckin workout and coming back for a nice smokeout is a must!...you get this amazing clear headed high...the world is gorgeous..

Hmm different with me. Most of the time when I run stoned I get pains and cramps, no energy. So I tend to avoid it.
BUT, there have been times when I took a nice toke and went running and have had amazing runs.
Double edged sword I guess.

oh yeah man...i always run outside and try to always run trails at parks...it is just so beautiful
dude fuck the stationary bikes you GOTTA continue your running even when it gets cold out!....the crisp winter air feels great in your lungs i promise you!
you just gotta make sure to layer up...i have tons of nice winter running gear from high school still...the gear is expensive, but very worth it...shit lasts quite a while and keeps you warm while not slowing you down
i have some great trail shoes that i am going to get out for winter as well...running through the dead cornfields in below freezing weather toughens the shit out of you..

This reminds me of a guy that I knew when I was younger. I was in a residential home for kids. I was like 13 at the time. There was this one teacher that was very different from anybody else that I'd ever met before. His name was Mr. Sherk, not too sure on the spelling but that's how it sounds. Anyway, he would always smile, these huge ass smiles, like his mouth grew when he did it. He grew aloe plants and they were like 3 ft tall, I asked him how long he'd had them and he said 6 months. I've had aloe plants all my life and never even seen any that big before. He said he loved them very much and that helped them grow. He would also do healing, if people were sick or had headaches he would meditate and pray. I got a good chance to talk with him about how he healed and what he believed in.
He believed that we were all spirits, that all live together in a spiritual plane he called "The Infinite Oneness". He said we made this physical place as a group and forgot how to get back. He said that in this place there is no duality. No black and white, hot and cold, etc. Hence the Oneness. When we got sick at was because of all the stress we pick up here in our day to day lives and it clouds up the projection that our spiritual selves is sending our physical selves.
This guy loved to run, he would come to campus way earlier then school and run for hours and never stop. He said he loved it, running was like a trance for him, he said was it like a total constant full body orgasm the whole time he ran. He also he that he ran with his eyes closed and saw with his mind's eye, pure energy of beautiful colors.
I've never met anybody quite like this guy. None of the other teachers there were really like this guy at all. But he was cool, not a weird guy at all. Anyway, just thought I'd throw it out there. He looked like he was like 40ish back then, he was also married, I met his wife a few times, she seemed pretty cool too.

yeah, actually if i get high and wait around for like 2 or 3 hours and then run i have no energy and suck as well...
for me it seems best to smoke and then run about 15 to 30 min afterwards...
i am also prescribed to adderall for ADHD and running on that shit is crazy...i just dont get tired EVER...no cramps no fatigue...just goin at it pretty hard...
this spring i plan on running a few timed distances on the high school track in town. i am hoping to get close to what i ran as a senior...
my goals are 4:30-4:45 1600meter 16:30-16:45 5000meter
i am 20 now, and i hope to be running marathons by my mid 20s
i am so glad i am actually getting back into shape and setting serious goals for myself...
my 2 year drug binge was pretty gay

sounds like a cool guy for sure
dude when i run and think about the psychedelic experience or my own experiences tripping it is amazing...i feel like my running is preparing me for tripping, and that my tripping is preparing me for running...
i also see running as a type of trance...i can just zone out and run forever...
the longer you run, the deeper the trance it becomes very easy to put all pain out of your mind and focus on your body motions...its like you are a finely tuned machine but with infinite potential..

any other runners?
the psychedelic experience has really opened up my eyes to the importance of excersise and keeping your body in top shape for those extra-intense trips...
and i know im not alone here...
anyone else at least get out and excersise in some way?
lots of martial arts people on here...you guys run?
i might like to get into martial arts myself, but i am much more interested in the mind/body/spirit aspect of it compared to the fighting moves part...
so how do you guys keep in shape?
