Sexual Repression and Bizarre Behavior

Seems the more 'conservative' lawmakers and religious figures rant on the evils of sexuality, the more bizarre their own behaviour gets. This has has been evidenced by the news coming out of Washington in the last few years revealing those who pass laws supporting 'family values' are frequently at odds against what they preach.
Here is the latest twist: (Not a joke or satire!)
OCTOBER 8--An Alabama minister who died in June of "accidental mechanical asphyxia" was found hogtied and wearing two complete wet suits, including a face mask, diving gloves and slippers, rubberized underwear, and a head mask, according to an autopsy report.
Investigators determined that Rev. Gary Aldridge's death was not caused by foul play and that the 51-year-old pastor of Montgomery's Thorington Road Baptist Church was alone in his home at the time he died (while apparently in the midst of some auto-erotic undertaking). While the Montgomery Advertiser, which first obtained the autopsy records, reported on Aldridge's two wet suits, the family newspaper chose not to mention what police discovered inside the minister's rubber briefs. (A dildo shoved up his butt and rubber underwear).
Perhaps his death was punishment for judging parishioners for the last 15 years on their evil behaviors. Aldridge was a long time friend of Reverend Jerry Falwell.

They are walking, talking examples of why thier own ideologies are so ass backwards. Dan Savage is probably having a field day with this one.
I almost, almost feel sorry for the guy. I mean, if he just owned up to his desires he probably never would have been such a repressed fuckwad and probably would have ended up having a more fulfilling sex life.

IMO it makes lot of sense to keep in fine tune the loins as well as the brains.

These guys suck. It's the same across the board. You find Hindu guru's like Sai Baba who fake spiritual powers (which is a big no-no), and molest his students. No institution is going to be completely free of corruption and hedonism. Too bad. Doesn't seem like this guy repressed TOO much

He is quite powerful socially, this Sai Baba. No amount of facts presented to the public that he is not a godman, but another slyster, would convince them.

I didn't equate them, and I didn't mean to give the impression that I meant to. Sorry, that was my poor use of the language. There's nothing completely wrong with hedonism, but every time I've seen it, it usually leads to or involves the manipulation or harm of others physically, emotionally, financially, psychologically, etc.
I use hedonism to denote an extreme in obtaining and enjoying pleasure. Pleasure is definitely a good thing in my book. It's just the extreme part that adds that desperation that usually ends up being negative in some form or fashion.

But this is not because of hedonism itself, it's because some people (both from the abusers and those who are "manipulated") have personal issues. I think it's good to set these things straight because otherwise people might end up hating and misinterpreting hedonism when there's nothing wrong with it.

You guys are so mean. He was serving the Lord in his own special way. It may have brought him closer to heaven in some way. You all know God's ways are mysterious and not understood by common rabble such as yourselves. I'm sure he was filled with the holy spirit.

Poem by Cuttlefish
We gather here to eulogize The Pastor and the Man Old Gary Aldridge, often wise, Though not his latest plan.
A member of the Christian nation, Friend of Jerry Falwell, His last attempt at masturbation Didn't go at all well.
For fifteen years, he'd preached the word A Southern Baptist minister His death--now, is it just absurd Or something rather sinister?
How does a person come to wear Not one wetsuit, but two? (Although, I know, I should not care I'm curious--aren't you?)
I tend to think that, years ago, He spied a rubber glove, And wondered "Should I--well, you know-- When God and I make love?"
He tried it on, and found a tube, Half hidden on his shelf, Of KY--smiled, and murmered "Lube Thy neighbor as thy self."
And minutes later, hard at work, He felt a little odd Was this a sin, or just a quirk? He talked it out with God.
"Is what I'm doing here a sin? Or is my pleasure Thine? Is this as bad as skin on skin? Lord, please, give me a sign!"
So God produced a pamphlet: "Your Vacation in Aruba!" And pointed out--right there, page four-- The wetsuits used for SCUBA
See, God's not really how you think A deity might be He's got a wicked bondage kink (Just ask His son, J. C.)
So Gary died, not steeped in sin But following God's plan; So straight to Heaven--come on in! And bring the wetsuits, man!
A story, sure, but it may yet Explain what happened then. The moral is, please don't forget: Your safeword is "Amen".

It's called a Reaction Formation, where you are uncomfortable with your own impulses so do the exact opposite and force your repression onto other people.
-------------------- 1. "After an hour I wasn't feeling anything so I decided to take another..." 2. "We were feeling pretty good so we decided to smoke a few bowls..." 3. "I had to be real quiet because my parents were asleep upstairs..."

I had no idea what it was called, but that sums up what I was going to say nicely.
