A quote(or verse?) from the bible

So a girl in my class friended me on facebook. I'm looking at her profile and come to find she's enveloped within jesus. She also has a bible verse of the day... And when I read it I thought it was very strange....
1 Corinthians 16:2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
Jesus, if that's who it's talking about, better get a fucking job like everyone else if he so decides to come. seriously, what the hell? How could you read this verse and not be like What the fuck?!
unless I'm totally misinterpretting it.

This is Paul's letter instructing the Corinthian congregation so it doesn't refer to Jesus. This was written many years after Jesus was on earth.
"Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye. Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. And when I come, whomsoever ye shall approve by your letters, them will I send to bring your liberality unto Jerusalem. And if it be meet that I go also, they shall go with me."

You could take the verse as a metaphor for preparing one's soul for the second coming (which is also metaphor.) It's the idea that one should not waste life in trivial matters but always be in a state of spiritual purity, in a state appropriate for meeting Christ (which is a form of consciousness and not a literal person.)

This is kind of off topic but oh well. I went to a funeral for my aunt a few months back, and when I was there I was chatting it up with the family, mingling, the usual thing you do at funerals. Well I got around to talking to one of my aunts (sister to the deciest), and well, she's really losing her grip on reality. More than once I over heard her talking about being ready for the second coming, because it could be coming with in the next year. She really, really wanted it to come before she died, you could see a desperation in her eyes and it honestly made me very sad. What do you say to someone like that? 'Oh yeah, well, uh, I'll be ready *big thumbs up*",it was quite awkward when she said it to me.

They are talking about the 10% that is owed to the church. You can read about it in the last chapter of the old testament. They use the money to pay for the rent of the church buildings. Its called tithing.

In the NT there are many references to believers meeting in each others houses, but none of people meeting in a "church building". The whole concept of mortgages on church buildings and pensions for retired pastors is foreign to scripture.
As far as "tithing" goes, the OT ceremonial laws have been fulfilled by the spiritual reality of Christ, which is what they pointed to. No command exists for "tithing" in the NT age.

I dont have time to look it up but i'll give that to you. I can only say it cost money to build temples even for the jews and more for the christians later.

The OT had many rules, for support of the temple and priesthood. These are done away. The only high priest is Jesus Himself so we don't need a temple and priesthood. These are done away in Christ, which is what they pointed to.

I have read Acts 5 and do not see what you are talking about. Perhaps you can elaborate on your point.

1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,2 And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.3 But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?4 Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.5 And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.6 And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.8 And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.9 Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.10 Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.11 And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things.

The issue is that they lied by making out like the amount given was the full price that the possession was sold for. I don't see how this relates to tithing at all. If they sold a possession and would have said here is x% of the price, in a honest way, they wouldn't of had a problem.
People freely give according to their hearts, not by some ceremonial law.

I'm not here to give you the truth. I am not one for contention the same scripture can mean a million things to a million different people. It only makes a difference where your heart is.

Does scripture say that it means a million different things to a million different people? No. It is very clear on its message, however the message is hidden to the unregenerate man.

The message is only visible for those who become gargoyles at night and through their nocturnal vision they can detect the hidden message from the bible which BTW has excellent sheets for making joints. I KNOW so.
