Better than church - noise music

Last night I went to a noise show that blew me away. There was a quad speaker setup, one in each corner of the room, so sitting in the middle of the floor I was totally enveloped in sound. It utterly filled me, as if it were exploding out of me - coming both from outside and inside my own body. This is apt, because the artist likes to think of music as blood - and his music does feel as though it is one's own blood. The floor of the space is raised and has some kind of rubber or spring thing underneath the carpet because sometimes the room is used for dance, so the reverberations through the floor were powerful. I laid down for most of the show, covering my eyes so that in complete darkness I experienced nothing but the sound. It tore me out of my normal consciousness, the busy rambling mind, displacing all the chatter and filling it with expansive, droning cacophony. The artist, Daniel Menche, is a master of his genre - it was the most organized and intentional noise I've ever heard - everything was so precise. It was the most meditative, mind altering experience I've had in some time. (And I swear, I only had one glass of wine. )
So I guess the spiritual/philosophical relevance is that this show is probably the most 'spirital' thing I've experienced in a long time. The only trivial thing that was annoying was how quickly people started clapping when he finished, I would have liked a moment of pure silence to process it.

There was a difference between the clapping and the other intentional noise?

It was just that the clapping was such an abrupt transition. I would have liked just a brief moment of silence, allowing the music to come to a point of rest, before being pulled back into the world. After being utterly saturated with sound, silence is so rich. It has a fullness of it's own.

I'm sorry.:(
It's starting to look like spirituality is just any random sensation that we're not used too. That's why my sexual practices got so kinky. I was seeking enlightenment.

I am plenty 'used to' going to noise shows and feeling music in my body. I certainly don't think 'sprituality' is 'any random sensation we're not used to.' How is this experience any less authentically spiritual than any other ritualistic bombardment of sound in a particular atmosphere? Would it be authentically spiritual if someone read out of a holy book first? Is noise music less 'spiritual' than the cheeseball trance garbage people listen to at raves? Does the musician have to declare themselves holy for thier creation to influence one in such a way? This show struck me as a sort of modern equivalent to the repetetive drumming or chanting that a lot of cultures base thier religious ceremonies around. It wasn't the 'sensation' that was spiritual, but what it triggered in me.

I lean to stoicism these days. I do like Bill Bruford as a drummer though.
I was just teasing anyway. Spirituality doesn't really mean much to me anymore. IMO it's a generic term for "I must have meaning, I must be important".

Fair enough, I'm uncomfortable with the term too... it's just that I'm not sure what else to use in it's place to describe the grounding, mind-clearing, connected-to-what-matters-to-me, totally present, ephiphany feeling. Any ideas?

My brother smoked weed and puked all over at a noise concert, it's better than church.
