Slow mushroom growth

My friend has these cakes that pinned monday and there are a total of 5 and less pins on 2 cakes, that dosnt bother him to much. But the biggest pin is ooo closing in on an inch long (the others are not even close to that size). Is this normal growth speed? the temp. in the terrarium is 65-72. Or could it be the moisture inside the cake? gets very dry were he lives. Thanks for your time and help.

In a terrarium that could fit 12 cakes there are only 2 2/3 cakes in there now. I fan about every 4 hours.

What are you using for moisture? It sounds like they might be dry.. Im not sure. Sometimes shrooms just take a bit but moisture is definitly big I would take a look into that. Unless you feel like its covered you might want to ask for some more expert advice.

Do you mean for humidity? i use perlite for humidity. I guess it works, there is no mycelium on the tips of the pins to suggest low humidity, but maybe when i fan them it looses the humidity and it needs a while to get it back up. I dunked my cakes, rolled in verm, then a couple days ago i put a layer of wet verm on top of the cakes. Yea im wondering if its something more than moisture and aircirculation. They dont need a certain amount of light while pinning do they? to keep telling the pins which way to grow or that they can still fruit? i dont know. Thanks for your help also.
O and also something i have noticed. Ill see a very small pin or something and then the next day it will have grown TONS, but then it will slow down alot. Then a couple of days later it will grow alot again.

lots of aborts mean low moisture. I would pour some more water in your terrarium.

Are they considered aborts when they stop growing completely or just grow slowly?

if they stop growing and dont continue after 2 days I consider them aborts and discard them. But they are a definite sign of low moisture in you cakes.

Alright thanks for the info, i think ill try and not fan them as often to keep the humidity high inside. One more question, i really want to eat these tomoro, if i eat like 10 1/2 inch to an inch long little shrooms would i have a enjoyable moderate "fun time"

yup aborts stop and turn black and rot away... but oh so tasty.. sometimes shrooms just grow slow. Ive had that happen before. with the dunk and wet verm and perlite you should be OK on humidity.. you could try getting a fish tank air pump and set up a bubbler with it for air exchange with moister added just in case.
i certainly wouldn't discard any pins that are slow until the tips turn black. sometimes like i said they just take their time

Hard to say honestly I would just be patient thats what cultivating is about.. But if you have to I would say you might have a decent trip if you ate em fresh. As always be cautious don't be to quick.
