fruiting chamber
    #7510995 - 10/11/07 09:55 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

I am making a FC out of a storage bin, is it best to have holes drilled in the sides to let co2 out or not?

I know RR drills holes friggin everywhere in his perlite FC

but i see many pics with no holes in FCs at all.

is fanning still neccsasary with holes?

what kind of fruiting chamber do you speak of. are you going for a monotub or a pmp? do you have fresh air exchange via a pump or fan?

fanning can be unnecessary DEPENDING on the type of fruiting chamber you are using.

I have a clear tub with holes drilled all round the bottom on each side. i havfe a few inches of wet perlite and a top with a saran wrap window. I plan on manually fanning a few times a day.

This is correct. Fan/mist about 3-5 times a day. Perhaps fan 5 times and only mist 3 times. I mist everytime I fan so I suppose it doesnt matter a whole lot? But thats what Ive read so do that

Thanks
yea the search feature is awesome! USE IT PEOPLE! especially if you are a noob like me.

Ok well I still have the FC set up like stated above. but I added the hydrometer and i still only have 90 RH, and sometimes it dips to 80, the temp is 68F Will the RH go up and the water evaporates off the perlite? should I spray the empty FC and wait until I can keep it at 99 RH?

what are some tips to get the RH up?

Spray the walls and inside of the lid with a light mist and also try and get your temps up to the mid 70's. Should be good to go after that.

well I heard that when fruiting the coloder the better. It slows the process down but increaes potency and size. RogerRabbit told me that.

That goes against what I've researched here but I know that RR guy is pretty smart; so if he told you that then it's probably right.

Drill holes in all six sides and watch your humidity go to the mid 90's. CO2 doesn't 'drain' out holes in the bottom.

should i try to drill more holes while perlite is in the FC? or do I have to take all the perlite out first

i would just heat up the drill bit, that way you leave the perlite in without getting plastic scraps everywhere..which really wouldnt matter i suppose.
