Casing pulling away from side of tray?
    #751018 - 07/16/02 12:30 PM (21 years, 8 months ago)

Hey guys--I know this thread is overdone, but couldn't find much in search. Just curious if this is always a result of too-low water, or if something else could cause it. If too dry, should I mist/ add water to the perlite/ other??? thanks!

it's cuased by water loss... not much you can do. If you have verm underlayer, you can rehydrate it by trickling water into it down the sides of the pan.

You didnt find anything in a search??? Thats odd, this has been asked over and over. Did you try the FAQ? Their should be endless information through a search and the FAQ goes over this subject.

A casing will pull away from the sides for many reasons. If a casing is dry, has overlay, and sometimes a casing will pull away from the sides right before fruiting. Fill in the sides with some casing material.

>>>A pulling -away casing can often be easily rectified after a flush is harvested: simply by adding more casing material to the sides where it has pulled, patched any casing layer that may have been pulled up when you harvested (on the ends of the stems), and mist with water. The key is to always provide the casing layer with water by misting it so it stays moist<<<
