Went Blind today...

so today at work, i was just scanning stuff, as usual..and i suddenly lost my vision in one eye, it went all white, like i was about to faint, but i didn't feel faint or anything, everything was totally normal, except for the fact that i was half blind.
it lasted for about 1 minute, and then went away quite quickly.
has anyone else had this?

i don't mean to scare you or anything, but loss of vision is a very common symptom of someone who is developing MS.

thats odd. I have head rushes frequently due to low blood pressure, but I've never lost my eyesight for more than 10 seconds, and its always in both eyes.
Never had it exclusively in one eye, and never had it over 10 seconds.
Edit: olive plume has a point. you should get that checked out.

Go now, if you can.
Loss of vision in one eye can be a symptom of stroke.
There are other problems that could cause this that i'm pretty sure you dont want to sleep on and wait over, not knowing.

It has never happened to me but I know of someone who temporarily lost vision. It was an MS symptom.

well, at first i thought it might be pretty serious, like brain tumor/MS, but after some research i found out that those have other symptoms that accompany the loss of sight, for instance in people developing MS, your eye is painful, and the loss of sight lasts much longer.
my mom said she had it as well once, and the doc said it was stress..but i don't feel stressed..
by the way i am 19, and exercise daily, im quite skinny as well.

I've had loss of vision out the top half of one eye, but it didn't go away immediately. Turns out I had a detached retina and needed emergency surgery (which is funny since my dad wanted to "see how it is in the morning").

Still, that isn't anything to play around with. Go to the doctor as soon as you can.
I've had a lot of weird medical things happen, but I've never gone blind in one eye. Comparatively, that would probably freak me out the most.
Good luck. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

And a detached retina has to be treated immediately or it can result in permanent vision loss. If you see black spots or a disc moving around, get to the hospital immediately.

every once in a while...like once a year...I randomly will not be able to see out of my right eye. Last for like 5-10 minutes. It is pretty weird.

Everything I have read points to nothing good. Not necessarily saying anything is really wrong with you but, I would definitely go to the doctor to get it checked out ASAP.
Nothing to mess around with.

Theres a possibility that it means that theres something wrong with you...
I haven't had it happen to me for over 2 years...theres some differences on how I live now, and how I lived then. When I use to get it often, I lifted weights 4 times a week. Didn't eat as much garbage...and only smoked weed. I am way more unhealthy now...so I don't know if it would have anything to do with being unhealthy. Maybe its just something random that happens and doesn't mean anything is wrong.

Go to the doctors asap, no telling what it is, but better safe than sorry. The worst things can come up suddenly.
I have never had loss of vision in one eye. I do suffer from migranes, and my main symptom that one is comming is loss of vision. Ill get tunnel vision and white splotches in my vision, then ill lose all eye sight for a few miniutes. Shortly after ill gain full vision, then it feels like i got hit in the head with a hammer.
I have noticed that my pupils will be different sizes, my left often is noticibly larger. Most often when i have a headache or migrane. They will be like that if i feel fine too, but often i feel fine, and if i think about it ill notice i have a headache. After having them for my whole life, i tend to ignore them.
I was also born with cranial synistosis, so that probably has something to do with it, but i have no insurance, and no money atm for a doctors visit. Ill get it checked out soon, but i dont think its that serious.

not being able to see out of the left eye is indicative of eye damage to the left eye.
not being able to see the left side of your periphery at all from both eyes is indicative of brain problems, in acute cases this is more likely an environmental cause, such as a toxic vapor. It CAN also indicate a stroke or a seizure, but more would usually happen.
When I was young I would loose a large chunk of my vision if someone was using draino, the stench of chemical would herald the loss of vision. this would also manifest occasionally in instances where chlorine could be smelled, but only in cleaning applications, perhaps suggesting a chlorine gas release.
I would lose the lower right quadrant of my visual picture. not like a spot or a dark area, but rather, the area did not exist. I could hold my hand up in front of myself and wiggle my fingers, and not see it at all. But I could still read and walk around.
However, people passing me on the right would just be heads and sections of torso, or looking at someone head on would produce an image of someone missing a leg, until the leg was looked directly at.
the effect was unchanged if either eye was closed. I've only had this 2-3 times in my life, there was always a strong chemical smell that could be traced back to a cleaning product (not an ofaculatory hallucination) and it would always fade completely away within a few hours of the smell being gone.
