I stick to using my diethyl ether as a solvent. Ether isn't really good for you to inhale but I imagine it is a lot like a short drunk. It is far less toxic than most other inhalants but you would want some lab grade solvent for such a use. Ideally it would be USP grade.
Historically it has both been used as an inhalant and as an intoxicant for ingestion similar to alcohol. Usually in that capacity it was mixed alcohol to make it more palatable.

yo. i tried some diethyl ether yesterday for the first time...and from my experience i wouldn't really recommend it. After the second rag I was feeling pretty nice and giggly, good euphoria, but at the same time I think I was conservative with my inhaling and could've gotten a lot more fucked up. The next day, i've got a scratchy throat and stuffy nose with a slight headache in the morning...but overall i'm still alive so all is well.

Where did the ether come from? It is important not to use ether from, oh, say engine starter for this.

I had a friend in rehab who loved ether and even wore his rag though his belt loops. He said it was like a good drunk feeling for 30-45 minutes, and he never had any problems with side effects. He told me how to extract it from starter fluid, BUT you cant just use any starter fluid, it has to contain only 2 things, diethyl ether and petrolium distill's, if there is anything besides those 2 then dont buy it or use it. (petrolium distill's can include anything in the petrolium line of chemicals)when you have the right kind of starter fluid simply put it in a zip lock baggie, spray the starter fluid in, put some water in and let it seperate, then throw the water layer away then you have pretty pure diethyl ether. If you want you can add more water to it and try to see if you can get any impurities out of it again. The problem is finding starter fluid that has the stuff you can seperate. When you huff the ether just put a few dabbs on a rag, put it in front of your mouth, and inhale deep untill your screwed up. There is no trip.

Nah, the one he was probably referring to has just diethyl ether and a propellant like butane, propane, or iso-butane.
The ones with petroleum distillates in it too are no good.

i did it a few times about 4 years ago. it actually had a nice feeling at first...kindof goofy type high...after about the third time though it didn't seem the same. it's kindof psychological addicting though...after huffing some i kept huffing...

Im pretty sure (about 99% sure) he said petroleum distillates. He might have been a junkie but he was a smart fucker. Described how to make morphine and then heroin from poppy pods and seeds (takes tons of 'em) off the top of his head, he's been around the block a few times. But i could be wrong, im trying to find out the answer though. Funny thing is when i got back from rehab and found information about extracting it from starter fluid i found this http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=ether , pretty much same process he described to me.

Right, well you certainly don't want any lubricants or the like in the starting fluid. It is hard to find starting fluid that is just Diethyl ether and a propellant but it should be immensely more desirable than one which contains petroleum distillates too.
I figured he meant a propellant of some sort when you mentioned "only ether and petroleum distillates" because if it did have only those two contents nothing would ever exit the can. heh
In the interest of safety though the best route is still to simply order some lab grade ether. That is if you aren't content skipping this drug entirely.

It isn't a terrible idea to avoid inhalants. Of course nitrous is a worth while exception.
Good luck finding some clean ether, The_Bomb. You are welcome to try it but don't make any sort of a habit out of it. I'm sure no one really would though, it is a novelty but over all a boring drug.
Even upon finding clean starting fluid I have to say you would be better off ordering lab grade diethyl ether.
The reasoning for this is simple. There are a lot of volatiles that can have negative health effects that they don't expend effort to remove if the product is just going to burn anyhow. These volatiles will be far less prominent in lab grade ether for obvious reasons.

One of my first posts on here was asking the same thing you just asked. I got hated on by a great many people who told me such things as "go huff some gas instead"
I made it from starter fluid and tried it anyways. The best way I could describe the high is a silly goofy feeling, lots of giggling, kind of like you're drunk but not nearly the same. I'd never do it again unless I had lab grade ether but I don't regret my experience doing it. Just don't make a habit out of huffing starter fluid.

I used to huff a lot of glade when I was in high school, I didn't know how bad it was for me till I passed out one day. I tell you waht though of anything I have everf done before huffing glade was the most visually insane shit. I have seen african ladies give birth in my bedroom, the girl from the pepsi commercial sing the commercial (i though it was being shot in my bedroom) andmy hands both turned into guns once too. The list could go on.... it was the only part of all my drug use I regret.

I had a old hippie friend who told me stories of how he had the most intense trip in high school when he huffed a shitload of gas on time.
