(Another) Poor man's pod question.
    #7509536 - 10/11/07 04:13 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

Assuming a 92 gallon rubbermaid container and two bubble wands, will an air pump rated for aquariums 30-60 gallons produce too much FAE and lower the humidity level too much? If so, is there a way around this (fewer air exchange holes in the top, perhaps)?

Or should I just run both wands from one port?

Also, the guide isn't extremely clear on what goes on the bottom. I've read that some people use all perlite, some mix perlite and geolite/lava rock, and some use all geolite/lava rock.

Would Home Depot/Lowes carry a small enough size lava rock to line the bottom? I don't think geolite is available locally.

Is it water, lava rock, then perlite on top of it?

I've searched posts and guides as much as I can, but can't come up with a crystal clear answer. I just want to be as clear as possible.

Thanks!

I plan on testing before actually fruiting. Incubation will last at least another 2 weeks, so I've got time.

I think I'll try a hose on each port, with water/lava rock/perlite, and measure the humidity and temp. If the humidity isn't high enough, I'll try two hoses on one port.

If anyone has suggestions for an optimal setup, let me know!

Run a few different set-ups, see which works best for you.

i have a 30-60 pump. and my terranium is liek 128 liters or something...whatever they measure in. lol. its big, i have 2 bubble wands, each on its own port. using a small twist valve you can get at any pet sore on each to adjust flow. i adjust it to whatever i feel like doing

the pmp is great. i love it for cakes.

I have a PMP setup with lava rock only, been running it for around 24 hours just to test RH and temps.

My RH is staying around 95-97%, but temperature is staying around 67 Fahrenheit.

Would a submersible fishtank heater set around 70-75 suffice, as long as my temp inside the tank stays around that range?

could i see a pic of yours? my friend has a pmp w/ heater and lava rock and can't get the rh past 80% it's about 73 in there and it's that warm due to the heater. she wants to know what the deal is. maybe the hygrometer is junk.
