very informative post ... thanks to all the contributors.
I just had an idea that might increase final yields without adding any dangerous solvents or (really) expensive equipment. That being to evaporate the EtOH/H2O mixture under a vacuum and, if available, under an inert gas. Usually the supplies are relatively easy to get or make and this will help prevent some unwanted oxidation of the psilocin. (no need to worry about the psylocybin .. aaahh the wonders of phosphorylated compounds)

Q: Would adding vitamin C to the alcohol help to protect from oxidation? Judging from the lemon juice thread it might up the potency as well.

Would shelf-life noticably improve with higher concentrations of ethanol? What is the expected shelf life in ethanol? And how might this work with fresh mushrooms?

I soaked 10 grams of fresh dryed shrooms in 9 shots of everclear for about 4 months shaking it every few days or so and filtered. Worked great for a while(4-6 months).  Then the potency dropped to nothing.  I'm wondering if it had to do with all those hot summer days being keeped in afoaf's garage or if it just naturally degrades due to the high alcohol content.  It was over 9 months later when we'z drank it from the start date. Then the effects were very minute.  My friend ate some good lsd that was just as fresh as the day he bought it 2 years ago. :mushroom2: :mushroom2: :mushroom2:

Hi reading your words helped alot, im trying to get mushroom drops, no desire to find crystals, i just need to find a way to get drops of alcohol that are potent enough for only needing one or a couple drops to get a kick, do you have any ideas? should i follow this tek
