About 2 months ago, when I birthed my BRF cakes (B+), I took one broke it into 5-6 pieces and tossed it in a cardboard box with a bunch of crumpled newspaper… no sterilization or pasteurization or any other zation… just took it out of my recycle bin and crumpled and tossed the pieces of cake in and mixed it up a bit. Then I watered the box for a few minutes and the next day I tossed about ¼ ~ ½ inch of MGMC (I did not know this could be used as casing yet) and some verm that was left over from rolling my other cakes. And I would go and mist it really good every 3-4 days. And I close the lid to the box and kept it in a somewhat shaded area.
Since then the temp has gone as high as 106 F (heat wave, I had to set my FC right next to the AC and it still went in the high 80‘s). And now at nights it is in the low 40’s. At about 5 AM the temp was around 43 F. the RH is usually around 40 to 60% And it did rain a bit yesterday, just enough to wet the ground, no flowing water.
So I guess I wanted to share that mycelium is pretty gangsterific. And can survive through a lot of shit. A couple of weeks ago I did dig a bit to see if it was alive, and it seemed to colonize the newspaper just fine.
Question … should I Leave this outside or put it in the FC? And should the Mushrooms be safe to eat? (my guess is yes)

Leave it outside. If you bring it into an FC, it will turn green within a few days. RR
