That is absolutely correct. They just don't tend to produce quite as much. If you are going to do them that way I would suggest completely submerging the cakes in a container of water overnight and then rolling them in some dry verm. This will act as a casing layer for your cakes.

me if you have questions about lasers Although i may advise others in a general way regarding all types of mushroom grows, and may even post question from other forums about growing "active" mushrooms, i only grow non-"active" mushrooms and edibles. FeelFamily resident tech guru

Cubensis is a species that requires no cold shocking because it is tropical. We use cold shocking for species that fruit in colder places/times of the year.
You were correct about redunking. After you pick your first flush you just dunk and roll again and you're good to go. Hope I helped.

Definitely. On the downside, if the spawn bag contams, thats your whole grow where as with jars you'll have at least a few.

Thats a pretty good temp. shrooms sometimes generate a bit of heat when they eat.
I wish you luck!

just stacking my casings in a small closet causes the heat to go above 90-95 when my house is 75. ive had to buy a shelf just to let the heat dissipate easier.

That's funny, I was watching dirty jobs a while back and they were doing a MUSHROOM FARMING episode! And they had HUGE piles of compost/straw/poo that were STEAMING (it was cold out) And some white stuff, something to do with nitrates... not entirely sure. Huge steaming piles... And they aerated it with bulldozers. They were growing button shrooms, and had quite large FCs :-D

well the LC is working... i can see little bits of short stringy shit.. im assuming thats the myc growing
I did boil the water/honey before inoculating it with about .75 ml of a syringe
this is kinda fun.. it is my first time and im very excited to see if th method i created works to stave off contam.. if it does a good job ill do a write up, but it involves the cake jars being held inside gallon ziplock bags...
