changing perlite

how often do u have to change the perlite in a FC? i am going to do 2 casserole case grows and 3 pf cakes and then i plan on putting the same thing in right after that grow? will this work or will i need new perlite

after it starts to smell. I change mine every 3 months.

you can also just wash the perlite instead of buying more it doesnt take that much effort and you obviously save a few dollars

well u kinda do that when u rinse it in the collonder. Some people like to bake it in the oven and re use

like the teks say, dump it in a colonder not breathing in teh dust and give it a good rinse to get rid of the dusty stuff.

put in some sort of strainer, submerge in water, drain well, throw in FC

I use hydrogen peroxide in mine replace every few weeks to dramatically extend the amount of times in between cleaning...

yeah hydro peroxide is a good bet i've also heard of straining through a pillow case.. havent tried that method myself.

i just cleaned my perlite with a h202/ water mix, but it was after i got some trich, i hope it killed it. i sprayed and stirred it.
what happens when you inhale the dust, cuz i was like smokin that shit
how often do you rehydrate you perlite?

perlites kinda hard to submerge, runnin water thru a strainer works well. drain it well

I've been using perlite from the same bag for at least ten years. All you have to do is rinse it off well, and bake in the oven for an hour or so, and it's just like new again. You never have to toss it out. RR

If you are opening the bag for the first time you should pour water into the bag first. This will keep the dust down when you dump it out into a strainer.
