Queen Elephantine - Surya
http://lix.in/53a7b7

"Queen Elephantine is a group of young explorers in the world of heavy psychedelia, and ‘Surya’ is their first full-length, coming hot on the heels of various split releases and such in the past year or two. ‘Surya’ is a long, contemplative trip into the world of inner visions, a journey in which the devotional merges with the visionary to stake out a unique corner of the musical underground.‘Surya’ begins with ‘Queen Elephantine,’ a lurching, meditational drone with plenty of heavy, distorted bass; a recipe the group uses to its advantage throughout the album. The song builds very slowly, offering visions that are somehow relaxed yet filled with anxiety, bringing to mind a space voyage with a crash landing on a far planet, where the alien sands drift quietly over blurry shapes both bizarre and sinister. ‘Ramesses II’ is a desert mirage of jerky military rhythms and monks offering devotional chanting that builds into the wails of lost souls. ‘Plasma Thaw’ is more rawkin’, while the 27+ minute ‘Bison’ is as thunderous as its namesake, with leaving-the-rails blues-based thrashing reminiscent of English cult doom/sludge outfit Ramesses. This tune pushes Queen Elephantine territory out further, with various plodding sludgy riffs creating a claustrophobic blues hell colonized by nasty Tibetan demons of every description.Lovers of heavy psychedelic doom or drone as manifested by groups as wide-ranging as Sleep, Acid Mother’s Temple, Mammatus, YOB, and even ‘Saucer’-era Floyd should climb aboard with these young musicnauts. It’s not a comfortable or easy trip by any means, but it will reward your (lysergic) attention." (Hellride Music review).

Sword - Lord By Fire
http://lix.in/02fe63

Incredibly unique and massively punishing southern-tinged sludge that is equal parts Cavity and Sofa King Killer swing, Façade Burned Black hardcore/sludge and epic, gargantuan riffs that just tower above the listener in an Isis kind of fashion. They've got the most insane riffs I've heard in recent memory going from some really abstract stuff to straight-up southern groove. They switch back and forth between different moods and sounds effortlessly. These guys are incredibly tight musicians. Though the slaughtering guitar work is the main focus here, everyone gets their chance to show off their skills. There's some excellent bass work and drumming on display here. It's all topped off with some killer hoarse screams that just completely seal the deal for me. This is sludge perfection. (Daredevil Magazine review).

Edwards' music is an enchanting otherworldly brew. Joined by Ordy Garrison on percussion, Daniel McMahon on keys and Elin Palmer on strings, Edwards builds his compositions off haunting melodies set to the tender strain of a banjo, hypnotic percussion and the faint sound of a piano or organ.
Whether the Biblical references inspire heartfelt devotion or confused indifference, it is the power of the words and the convicting passionate authority with which they are sung that brings Edwards' songs to another level. Like his previous contributions as WovenHand and as the frontman for 16 Horsepower, Edwards' devotion is as unmistakable as the original sound he has forged. The music is brooding, dark and somehow maintains a tight grip on hope itself.
The circle is vicious of Thoughts altogether vain Haunted by battles lost Still living on Idian land
I'm listening to this now... I like it a lot. It's so weird though haha. Thanks for sharing!

Album thread? Cool idea.

Phutureprimitive - Sub Conscious
1. Rites Of Passage 2. Darkness 3. Elysium 4. Ritual 5. Spanish Fly (Flamenco Dub Pt. 1) 6. Hyper-Sence 7. Drifting 8. Submerge 9. Dissolve
Phutureprimitive: Rain (vocals, synthesizer, bass instrument, percussion); Alyssa Palmer, Lisa Gwaltney (vocals); Matt Warren (guitar); Carrie Phillips (didjeridu); Leroy Espiricueta (percussion).
Phutureprimitive is the work of DJ and producer Rain, whose music brings together several related genres including but not limited to trance, electronica, and dub. These related styles represent developments in computer and recording technology. Clearly, this album is result of fabulous advancements in gear and gadgets.
Nonetheless, SUB CONSCIOUS is not merely a technical achievement, but is quite artful. Additionally, Rain's deep-pocketed grooves and stimulating musical colors illuminate the craftiness of this release. "Rites of Passage" is a menacing track that begins with the sound of heavy breathing and an ominous drum beat. "Darkness" kicks it up to another level, due to the intricate keyboard textures and foreboding bass line. With "Submerge," Rain tickles the senses as electronic sounds buzz, squeak, and squeal in the foreground. However, the highlight of the album is "Spanish Fly (Flamenco Dub Pt.1)," a tune that combines sleek percussion with a flamenco guitar and a sensual Middle Eastern vocal melody. Rain has once again taken cold electronic sounds and used them to create an organic, often poignant, musical statement.

One of the sickest albums I've heard as far as heavy stuff goes.
Converge - Jane Doe

1. Concubine 2. Fault And Fracture 3. Distance And Meaning 4. Hell To Pay 5. Homewrecker 6. Broken Vow, The 7. Bitter And Then Some 8. Heaven In Her Arms 9. Phoenix In Flight 10. Phoenix In Flames 11. Thaw 12. Jane Doe
"Converge duck all the rules of hardcore and heavy metal and out of a loophole comes a new beginning. These guys live on a sonic continent near the street screech of Candiria and the fluttering high-speed precision of Dillinger Escape Plan, sounding something like Slayer backed by armies of curb-cracking skateboarders instead of hell's minions. Their uptempo doom is shaded with downbeat indie-rock tones instead of infernal majesty, and there's even a hint of British-style shoe gazing on the slow five or six seconds of this CD. Mostly what you get from this 10-year anniversary release is a frightening debacle of giant objects hurtling over your head, while impassioned but utterly distorted vocals fend off certain destruction with little pleas for humanity. It's an unpredictable and elegant triumph, softened to offer catharsis rather than total brutal assault."

Doesn't get any chiller than this
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works II

01 [cliffs] 02 [radiator] 03 [rhubarb] 04 [hankie] 05 [grass] 06 [mould] 07 [ropes] aka [curtains] 08 [blur] 09 [weathered stone] 10 [tree] 11 [domino] 12 [white blur 1] 13 Blue Calx 14 [parallel stripes] 15 [shiny metal rods] 16 [grey stripe] 17 [z twig] 18 [windowsill] 19 [stone in focus] 20 [hexagon] 21 [lichen] 22 [spots] 23 [tassels] 24 [white blur 2] 25 [matchsticks]
The songs on SELECTED AMBIENT WORKS VOL. 2 have no actual titles (but have been given names based on the pictures for each track in the album track listing/sleeve.
Aphex Twin: Richard James (various instruments).
Very occasionally in music, something will come at you from so far out on the left field, that not only do you not note its immediate import, you scarcely recognize it as music at all. This is the record that cemented the media's fascination with Richard James, a Cornwall bedroom DJ. Selected Ambient Works is not an entirely representative recording, as these are essentially mood pieces, unlike the more instantaneous, dancefloor-targeted material that originally brought him to the nation's attention. Nevertheless if you are prepared to make the journey, and can see past the album's intimidating length and its lack of linear framework, there are some exquisite moments - ranging in texture from melodic delirium to sweeping melancholy.

Simon Posford's down-tempo/psydub album
Hallucinogen - In Dub

1) "Mi-Loony-Um ('A Floating Butterfly Stings Like A Bee' Mix)" 2) "Solstice ('Warwick Bassmonkey' Mix)" 3) "Gamma Goblins ('Its Turtles All The Way Down' Mix)" 4) "Spiritual Antiseptic ('Minty Fresh Confidence' Mix)" 5) "L.S.D. ('World Sheet Of Closed String' Mix)" 6) "Angelic Particles ('Buckminster Fullerine' Mix)"
Not just an album to enjoy, but one to experience.
Unbeknownst to the London massive, deep within the English countryside lie a number of brilliant music producers. One such unfashionable but extremely talented artist is OTT, best friend of Simon Posford aka Hallucinogen and previous editor of the Shpongle albums. Hallucinogen's stuff would lend itself well to dub - and this proves you right.
It's a dub circus with flecks of the original souping in and out, and the effect is truly psychedelic. Spiritual Antiseptic uses the original's cutup vocals with a more traditional dub arrangement - melodica, clattering drums, and reverb to hell and back. Twisting and turning, the way the main LSD melody surfaces is pure sonic poetry, and certainly gets those brain chemicals flowing.
Finally Angelic Particles - with swirling vocals and sweet guitar (specially recorded by Simon Posford) creating a sort of timeless dub full of rich psychedelic harping back to Floyd, Gong and the Grateful Dead. This is an absolute triumph - it's original, it's brave, and the sounds are truly transporting making this a release that truly deserves the 'psychedelic' tag.

Great Hip-Hop
Mobb Deep - The Infamous

1. The Start Of Your Ending (41st Side) 2. [The Infamous Prelude] 3. Survival Of The Fittest 4. Eye For An Eye (Your Beef Is Mines) 5. [Just Step Prelude] 6. Give Up The Goods (Just Step) 7. Temperature's Rising 8. Up North Trip 9. Trife Life 10. Q.U.-Hectic 11. Right Back At You 12. [The Grave Prelude] 13. Cradle To The Grave 14. Drink Away The Pain (Situations) 15. Shook Ones Pt. II 16. Party Over
With one album--no, one song ("Shook Ones, Pt. 2")--Mobb Deep went from gimmick kiddie rap duo to hip-hop's dark horsemen of the apocalypse. Gritty and nihilistic, Prodigy and Havoc ushered in a post-gangsta era of reality rap that privileged vivid street narratives over mere drive-by posturing. As well, production by themselves and guests like Q-Tip (who did the jazzy "Drink Away the Pain") kept the soundscape moving beyond just the dissonant drone of "Shook Ones." "The Infamous" captured Mobb Deep at the beginning of their rebirth, before their formula became redundant. --Oliver Wang

Some more good NY Hip-Hop
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein

1. Iron Galaxy 2. Ox Out The Cage 3. Atom - (featuring Alaska/Cryptic) 4. B-Boy's Alpha, A 5. Raspberry Fields 6. Straight Off The D.I.C. 7. Vein 8. F Word, The 9. Stress Rap 10. Battle For Asgard - (featuring Life/C Rayz Walz) 11. Real Earth 12. Ridiculoid 13. Painkillers 14. Pigeon 15. (untitled) - (hidden track)
Cannibal Ox: MC Vast Aire Kramer, MC Vordul.
Additional personnel includes: Alaska, Cryptic, Life, C Rayz Walz.
In sharp contrast to the "Izzo"-dominated airwaves at the time of its 2001 release, Cannibal Ox's debut album, THE COLD VEIN, stood on Company Flow's shoulders, making critics and listeners alike take notice of a strange rap underworld that was indeed alive and gathering strength. El-P's untouchable production work combined off-kilter drums, distorted keyboards, and molasses-thick samples to create an alternately dreamy and nightmarish soundscape over 15 tracks. While the relentless lyrical onslaught of Vordul and Vast Aire had rap fans scratching their heads in between nods when hit with ill metaphors like, "the sample's the flesh and the beat's the skeleton /You got beef but there's worms in your Wellington." No doubt the more prominent of the two MCs, Vast Aire proved himself one of the most wildly inventive lyricists on the planet, with a barrage of intricate rhyme schemes and anomalous delivery. THE COLD VEIN also stands among El-P's best work as a producer, and is perhaps the most powerful album to come out of the Definitive Jux label.
