John Williams
    #7505860 - 10/10/07 03:22 PM (16 years, 3 months ago)

So how many people are a fan of the great John Williams? Some say he is overrated but you can't deny the man has done some great pieces of music. What's your fav soundtrack by him? I think one of his greatest is the 3rd Harry Potter soundtrack (at least as far as recent years are concerned) I love alot of his themes, but I think as a whole album that's one of his most solid. Let me know what you guys think!

Good composer, also oddly enough, a different guy with the same name happens to be the best classical guitar player of all time.

He has come up with some of the most instantly recognisable pieces of music of all time, which is no mean feat.

My favourites have to be the star Wars main theme and the Imperial March.  :headbanger: Gives me shivers up the spine!

I agree. The man can come up with some catchy melodies that get stuck in your head. I mean who doesn't hear Hedwig's Theme and not think of Harry Potter? The man is a genius.

Home Alone soundtrack, particularly "Setting the Trap" (the song that plays while Kevin is boobytrapping the house).

John Williams...he was the first classical movie composer that I really fell in love with. He's unlike any other popular, contemporary composer today.

The themes he comes up with fit so well it's scary. Come on... Star wars, Jurassic Park, Jaws, Indiana Jones, ET, Close Encounters with the Third Kind...it goes on and on. He's just in perfect tune with societies musical ear.

That said, I saw him conducting a Jurassic Park suite live. It was mind blowing. So intense. Jurassic Park might be one of my favorite movies hes done but its impossible to pick.
