Nice, easy to follow, I am sure it works well, ridiculously big document though.

definitely not an american author...
I don't care for it much myself. Too much work for too little of a result. I think many of our more standard bulk techinques here outpace this idea by a mile. Just my opinion though of course.
Nice find none the less, new approaches are always cool, there are some interesting ideas in there, just none that I happen to care for personally. It does work, I can give it that at least.

I like the TEK
Personally I don't see the need for the yeast extract, Straw & BRF would work just fine I think.
The filter is inventive! It says you can substitute more rockwool for the vermiculite, so this TEK could be done without vermiculite.
I like the use of hydro pellets for humidification, avoiding Perlite.
I agree, the document is HUGE, this prolly because of the photos which are too high quality for the document. It could be 1/4 the size if they had done some photoshop work.

My current tek is actually based on that pdf - think i found it on emule a couple of years ago.

My thoughts on the tek are: 1. The tin filter things are over complicated.
my solution was to use a bit of plastic pipe with polyfil filter, and a zip tie to fasten the boiler bag to it (see picture above), plus silicone injection points on the side of the bag because its difficult to inoc through my filter.
2. I found the straw/brf pretty rubbish as a small scale substrate - i think i only got 1-2 flush's maximum with it. Also i had no luck dunking it - it always went soggy.
my solution was to switch to popcorn (Because its available in nigh on every supermarket), and enabling a transition to casings/bulk.
straw is dirt cheap though...

i got to wonder how the hell he had that much growth of myc in 2 days, maybe i should try using some marmite diluted in water with my BRF cakes, according to the tek it speeds up germination??
If this is true then this will give the myc a better chance against contams (but still not a replacement for sterile procedures)

Perhaps the guy empties a whole syringe in a bag After all, why not?
His BRF on Straw is a shrewd idea, the BRF aids the germination of the spores and the myc then takes to the (dirt cheap) straw as the primary substrate.
The ubiquitous and cheap rye flour could be used instead of BRF.
His marmite (yeast extract) claim of speeding up growth sounds good yes

Quote:
Fig 8. A heaped table spoon of marmite is added to a pouring jug. Marmite, vegimite, or yeast extract’ is used to help quicken the germination time of the spores.
Quote:
A few days after inoculation the mycelium growth is easily visible.
The picture in the tek shows a bag, that looks 25% colinised.
hmmmm, im gonna pick up some marmite and see what efffect it has in some jars. As long as i dont put too much marmite in the water it could workout.

Two days sounded too good to be true. Not even contams are that fast
