spot the contam

OK... soo... my first attempt at cultivation i inoculated the jars while they were still too hot. After no sign of growth after a week and a half I had left the jars for dead and begun inoculating new jars with new strains... then a week later i spot a growth on one of my oldjars. Im worried it is miscoloured... but my G/F insists it is just verm poking through... see if you can spot the contam... if there is one...

When you see color, it's bad, don't chuck it for off white, sometime the contents of the jars can stain part of the substrate.
My foaf always waits for color, usually green, to toss.

yah... the colour i see is more of an orange. that being said ive been told that when you start to see growth after 2 1/2 weeks its most likely a contam. I also injected the spores in 4 spots... this is the only side with any growth... maybe it took so long because most of the spores were killed from the heat at inoculation??

Why was there heat at inoculation?

after sterolizing them i only gave them about an hour -1 1/2 before i injected the spores (I know it's a rookie move)... none of the other jars (from this batch) showed any signs of growth and this guy was late.

My foaf waits at least 24 hours before removing jars from the PC.
Warm jars, when taken out of a PC, and into a cooler room will rapidly cool to room temp, which is bad because in doing so it will breath in the cooler air in the room as it's warm air exchanges, greatly increasing your risk of contams.
As long as the jars were below 100 degree internally, I don't think your spores would have died unless they were perhaps already poor.
106 is generally considered the kill temp for myc, I assume spores could handle slightly more, though I am not sure.
