Is it possible to fruit a woodlover like azures or cyans directly off of a hardwood log?

Cyans (and I believe Azures too) are primary wood decomposers. I think it might work.

According to RR:

Woodchips are a poor performer for cubes though. I've fruited them a few times on it, with poor results compared to compost/straw/manure etc. (..) On fresh woodchips, usually trichoderma took over before the mushroom mycelium could get established. I think it's a case of a starving organism will eat whatever it has to in order to survive, but might not thrive on the food.

Right, what if you enriched the wood chips with nutrient water?

You mean like plantfood? I've been thinking about that but that might make the substrate more susceptible to mold etc, so that you'd need pasteurization at least.
And once you need that, you might as well go for straw, no?

i was thinking azures would eat the wood myself but i think i may have to do just a little more research before i try. But you would deffinately have to get a large mycillial mat, on woodchips before you try to spawn directly onto a log and i do believe that you would have to either leave the bark on the log or make holes in the log for mycelium to grab on, and in theory wouldnt the flush's keep coming till the log was completely decomposed?
