Man, sometimes it's hard to remember that we all live in a motherfucking paradise.
Luckily 1.5 grams of mushies quickly opened the door back to that realization. Politicians, religious leaders and other criminals preaching doom and gloom, killing each other over a few cents or a couple of barrels of oil. They must be nuts!
Part of me keeps saying that I'm getting too old to be this naive and optimistic. (I'll be 36 at the end of this month), but I feel that as I get older I get more optimistic. The Soviets didn't nuke us in the '80s like they promised, the neo-nazis didn't turn us into slaves in the '90s and the muslims kill less people worldwide than cigarettes do.
So many problems on this planet, but I'm confident that we'll overcome each and every one of them, eventually. Paradise is getting closer every day.
Just felt like sending out some good vibes to everyone on this amazing board. I realise that sharing this much optimism borders on the obscene, but today I'm in love with the world and I don't care who knows it.
Nowadays I hardly ever trip anymore, but days like this make me remember why I'm doing this in the first place. Taking on a cosmic perspective once or twice a year is probably the best therapy out there. It works for me anyway.
And remember people, despite what mommy and daddy told you, it's OK to play with your food.

i just got done doing a project in my ECON495 "Economics of Happiness" class that shows that as you get older (generally) your level of subjective well-being (how happy you consider yourself at the present moment) rises. We found the main reason behind this phenomina to be lowered expectations and aspirations - among other sociological factors.
It was a huge project (we gave a 65min powerpoint presentation on it) and i dont have time to go into details (class in 20min) but you get the gist.
anyways - be happy! because adults age 30-49 have the lowest happiness levels (i believe its because they have to take care of the 15-29 adn also the 50+ people). and you seem happy - so yay!
p.s. my mind is still running 209348308miles/minute from last night, so ignore everything i just typed, yay!

how does that make any sense... you said as you get older your happiness generally rises then you contradicted yourself by saying that adults aged 30-49 have the lowest happiness levels.
ive always felt that as people get older they become more relaxed/have a better outlook... dunno why.. but ive seen a lot thats how people often become.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day.
