 Ez grow mucho overlay i think

Well i just harvested a pretty large flush on this ez grow mushroom kit(i will never go that route again but....) It seems i have a whole shit load of overlay like my whole casing is white and the shroomies only grew on certian strips of the mycliam and i was wondering if i should deep scratch it. and if so how becouse im really not sure if its a casing at all. All it was was a colinized rye bag mixed with compost so no top casing layer. Also i think i had lots of c02 at the beggining before i started fanning the kit. and btw fanning helps that kit 100% anyways. i know im wordy and i hope thats enouph info. i can post a pic if need be but i just have a web cam so you know...

I feel for you dude! ?I bought 2 EZ-Rip kits before I found this board.
My advice - make a terrarium to put the tub in without it's cover.
Lightly scratch the top of the cake then submerge it in water for 4 minutes.
Drain the tub by pulling the stopper.
Put the tub into your terrarium and wait 3 days for the mycelium to recover, then case it in coir.
Maintain as you would any other casing.
Your second flush will blow the first away!

oh right and also i have about zero dollars to spend on mushies until the begging of august at which point i plan to buy the jars verm blah blah blah and set my self up like a real newb

I wouldn't go the newbie route, it's a step backwards for someone who's done an EZ-RIP kit. ?You've already done the rye/compost method and grown shrooms!
Why fruit off jar cakes now? Just stick with the method you now know, just READ READ READ the posts here and learn why the EZ-RIP didn't work right and how to do casings correctly.
The pf tek will disappoint you in time and yeild having done a compost cake already.

the only problem with that is that i have no presure cooker. is it worth just buying the rye bags from a vendor?

Yes and no...
It's hard to find good pre-sterilized rye bags (unless you want to go the mail order route) and they're expensive anyway.
Just get a half decent PC on ebay and buy bulk rye berries and some FP(filter patch) bags (or use quart jars or even 12 oz jars if you like). I prefer the bags though... they are easier to avoid contams with, easier to shake and break, easier to knock-up, easier to fit in my small (5 quart) PC.

Myco Supply has the bags (10 for $6.95) and I found organic rye grain at Organic Kingdom for a decent price, but you could probably do better at a feed or health food store.

I have purchaed Arrowhead mills organic Rye Grain at GNC for $2.00/2 lbs. They usually have it in stock. As far as the EZ-grow from a company that sounds like House Stead, it is a RIP OFF! $100 for a couple bags of Perlite and Vermiculite and Peat Moss. The spores they sent were on a 1"X1/2" peice of paper. I can't see how they justify the cost for that kit.

the term "sellers market" comes to mind. Check out STP or whatever that true ripoff site is, it'll make you cringe. and they get business too... that's the funniest part.

The bst quality mushrrom growing compost is Dung Brothers' compost, but it costs a fortune (20 Lbs for $100)
SO...
Go get some horse or cow manure from a local farm and pasturize it with cut straw (hay [$5 a bail]) 50/50 in volume.
If you ask about the proceedure to do this, I'll just tell you to search this board, so don't bother..

I agree! STP sole me a CDROM instructional and I am still curious what I bought. I am so glad I found this site. 2X the information and all for free. STP only sells syringes and the cheapest one is $30.00 B+
