Here's a little clip

Gah, I dunno, that would wig me out too much if I was tripping. I really don't think I'd like it.

The beginning reminded me of The Point, which is a perfect tripping movie, if there ever was such a thing. If you haven't seen The Point, check it out. It's a cartoon movie from the 70s, and was influenced by one of George Harrison's acid trips.

Has anyone seen Natural Born Killers while tripping? A buddy and I decided to watch it while tripping, we had no idea how insane that movie was. It might not seem like a good idea to watch on psychedelics, but it definetly was.

For me, I prefer movies some time after the peak. I much prefer music around the peak because, during those times in my life the music is just it ever sounds. I play some great tunes, close my eyes, and enjoy the light show.

But after the peak, I bet the Point or Fantastic Planet would be pretty good. I've seen Fantastic Planet stoned many times - it is great.

i really just don't enjoy watching tv or anything elctronic while i'm on mush...it's all about real life, tv's boring anyways...last time my friends were all downing watching the comedy network and i took off, buddy owns a massive 80 acre lot..so i dragged my feet around and made a giant smiley face and hand giving the finger in the snow...they were huge, only way to see it was from ontop of his hill

+1 to Natural Born Killers (not sure if I could handle/want to watch it tripping)
+1 to nature shows
+1 to the Yellow Submarine :royalrainbow:

Aye to that! It controlled my mind for all (75 minutes, they say!?) on an amazing mushroom trip last week. Unbelievably obvious connotations throughout the whole flick, right down to the very end.

Also a very obvious good trip flick is Fear and Loathing, of course. It's greatest on a high ride, methinks. I saw it on one hit of good acid at a local cult-flick movie theater on Hunter S. Thompson's 70th birthday. It was perhaps one of the greatest situations for a trip ever. Needless to say, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is a whole new movie on a good trip.

I haven't tired it yet, but I imagine that The Matrix is a great trip movie, if you can get a trip that let's you sit down and listen to a slower-at-the-start movie.

It's a bit dated, but Videodrome is a force to be reckoned with.

Death to Videodrome! Long live the new flesh!

I don't think James Woods likes to admit that he was in it, now that he's a "real" actor.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086541/
http://www.netflix.com/Movie/Videodrome/1093793?trkid=189530&strkid=1809279959_0_0

Also by David Cronenberg and in the same vein, Naked Lunch is pretty good.

whatever way i'd try to describe it, it wouldn't do it justice, its amazing.

and you don't even have to be tripping while watching it to have a mindblowing experience.

Fear and Loathing was a much better book than movie, but the movie was funny. I don't know why anyone would want to waste a trip watching that depressing shit. Natural Born Killers? Stupid movie stoned, not stoned, etc.. Go outside!

I agree with ya on that one. I find that during most of my trip I have lots of energy along with a short attention span, so watching an entire movie is out of the question. Once the trip is trailing off I relax by watching tv for a while

I liked watching the movie "Breaking" on shrooms

It has a good message, it's from the 80's, and the way they dance is just unreal when you're tripping. Definitely calls for a good time.

I still have yet to see alice in wonderland ever, so my first time will be on shrooms, and I can't wait.

The jungle book, or if you want a scare watch teletubbies, or whinnee the pooh any of the Disney movies are amazing when your high you feel like a little kid again and you can just sit there with your sippy cup and yea its worth the embarrassment at the movie rental shop.

But if your too old for that Star wars Or Star trek I am a big fan of the nerd movies when i am high it makes it much more pleasureable then watching it by its self

I've always loved watching Akira [the end is fucking amazing when you're tripping - it's the birth of the universe scenario], the Matrix, Fear and Loathing, or the Pick of Destiny. Good movies though guys

edit: here's the akira trailer [with linkin park over it but oh well]
you can see why this is a good tripping movie [and it's pretty old too!] just visually it's still very appealing - the use of tracers and even the building movements are amazing when you're trippin.

Argh how could I have forgotten all those awesome Animes?!

My favorites are Akira, Ghost in the Shell and Princess Mononoke. These
movies ought be awesome while you are tripping  I have to try them
(these and Alice in Wonderland )!

Akira's ending is just too amazing! Now I can't stop thinking about it
anymore ^^

"The Trip" (1967)
A bit on the old side but a great experience. Plus it was written by Jack Nicholson.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is horrible for tripping you will end up seeing what Raoul duke was seeing and most of the time they weren't the most normal and pleasurable sights to see.

I disagree that The Wall is good to watch while tripping, to much darkness in it for me personally. It's neat while stoned or drunk, but its not to ideal for tripping. I prefer things that: A) have a great message B) are visually beautiful or C) are funny as hell, but not corny.

It is supposed to be a kids movie, from the creators of "The Labrynth" and "Dark Crystal"....Majority of the movie was filmed on Blue Screen. Lots and Lots of Eye candy for sure....

I highly recomend....

anything grateful dead, waking life (wonder why no ones mentioned that one yet), Koyaanisqatsi by francis ford coppola (you will probably watch at least some of this film if you take/have taken film class.

and of course animations ... which i haven't delved that far into, but cowboy bebop is pretty cool, afro samurai and anything to do with ninjas/samurai is pretty kickass. i'd like some more recommendations for the ninja/samurai movies/animations.

I love watching the Dead Movie while tripping, its a common occurence in my circle of friends. New Years eve at Winterland isn't bad either, but if it's a straight concert you want i have this awesome bootleg DVD of the dead live in Denmark at "Tivolis Koncertsal" which is great to watch tripping. Never seen Truckin up to Bufalo or one from the vault though.

Waking Life is great too, i've seen that and the director's more popular film Scanner Darkly while tripping and they're both great. Waking Life is a lot more philosophical though and will get you thinking on these CRAZY tangents when trippin.

i love fantastic planet. One of my favorite soundtracks of all-time, if not my very favorite! another trippy movie to check out is called "The Secret Adventures of Tom Thumb"

It's a stop-motion vid, with clay and real characters mixed... very unique look.

another series of videos that are even farther out there - the Cremaster Cycle.

Also he got a race car.

I don't know... whenever I sit down and watch a movie while tripping my trip isn't intense at all.

One time I went into my sister's room tripping balls but I was acting fine and I stayed there and watched a movie with her, "Thirteen," but it really wasn't that great to watch while tripping so I left and went back to my room where everything was floating around me. Very weird experience

I saw Ocean Planet a few months ago and felt like I was swimming underwater for 2 hours.

Another one that I was recently treated to is Ghost Rider with Nicolas Cage.  That one is full of intense images under the influence.

Oh dude this it too easy of a topic lol

Everytime I trip with friends we always plan on getting hold of certain movies b/c we KNOW they will be trippy as fuck on shrooms;

3) Transformers --> When I was peaking OMG, such a trippy fucking movie

2) John Carpentar's The Thing --> Possibly one of the coolest experiences in my entire life, I highly recommend this movie to everyone, drugs or no drugs.

1) Cloverfield --> this was the 2nd time I was high on shrooms, myself and 3 other friends watched it, we were all PART of the movie, greatest movie seen on shrooms period, The thing was a runner up though that movie rocked as well.

Some random ones:

Epic Movie, yea that movie sucked, never saw it out of my own free will until one night coming down from the peak of a shroom trip this movie was on TV, we couldn't find the remote and were way too lazy to get up and change the channel lol, the movie sucked but it had so many funny dumb moments that you'd only histerically laugh on while on shrooms.

I also recommend watching a show called "The critic" (Jay Sherman from the simpsons) when on shrooms, so stupid yet funny.  And also king of the hill, god damn that show is funny on shrooms.

i agree king of the hill is the shit... but i hate commercials.

back to the future..?

any childish cartoon with the mute button on and good music playing

try playing an instrument as long as you can on the come up.. just dont stop... ive gotten stuck in guitar riff time loops...?

anything to freak/wierd you out can be desirable (i guess?) the grudge may seem a little less lame while tripping.

if you want to confuse yourself try muting a movie while listening to a book(you know like for blind or lazy ppl)

but seriously id rather wander around and explore the different textures and sensations of the world.

Cheers.

The Doors and Warlock 2 the Armageddon were fuckin awesome on mushies.

Edit, lol...

This is, in terms of blood/gore horror, the worst part of the movie. The rest of it isnt like this at all. It has alot of dark comedy, and fantastic sound effects while trippin'.

Not for me, I played guitar every time I've tripped, and every time I've pulled off some impossible-to-do-while-sober stuff.  One trip I spent with a friend playing along to arch enemy on my guitar, both our jaws were on the floor, we both knew (you know how 2 ppl can share the same trip while on shrooms...) that I was just had the biggest grin on my face looking 90 degrees to my right while playing, wasn't even watching the fretboard.

hint: Sweep picking while on shrooms is possibly the trippiest musical effect ever, I saw the notes come off the fretboard, oh and its damn near impossible to play unless you're on the "come up" leg of the trip.  That's the only time I play guitar anyway, any other time such as peaking or the comedown/burnout is just too, well, hard.  Fingers don't cooperate, hand eye coordination just goes down the shitter (guitar wise anyway), ever see a guy peaking trying to sweep pick?  Funniest shit in the world.

For those that don't know what sweep picking is, enjoy: http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Bs9XjpjmrXY&feature=related

Hmmm, some of those movies I too have seen while tripping, to me, the matrix was just the matrix, we've all seen it so many times its just not as trippy as I thought it'd be on shrooms.  Donnie Darko was good though (shrooms or no shrooms).  6th sense, don't think so, I won't even waste time watching that movie while tripping when I could be watching something else or just doing something worth my while. The Labyrinth would be awesome on shrooms lol, gotta make sure to remember that for next time.  Death Proof was funny as hell on shrooms but not trippy, I think Planet terror was trippier (we watched em back to back).  Full Metal Jacket = awesome while sober, on shrooms, meh.  The butterfly effect was horrible, drugs or no drugs.

I've been trying to get my hands on a copy of fear and loathing in las vegas, no luck so far.  I've heard nothing but great things about that movie when it comes to tripping the fuck out.

Another awesome trip movie is called "Heavy Metal". It's got celebrity voices 'n' stuff and is a cartoon, but heavier than a normal cartoon.

If you get the old T.V. series entitled "Liquid Television" that was broadcast on MTV back in about the 90's you'll trip out nicely.

If you sync up Pink Floyd "The wall" with Alice in wonder land your in for an awesome trip.

While I agree TV is generally uninteresting while tripping I did do my first acid trip while watching Disney's Atlantis. I'd close my eyes and still see all that neon blue.

Pretty awesome also, it will either get stuck in your head or annoy the hell out of you.

If you do "Dark Side of The Rainbow" then this link is a great starter.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Side_of_the_Rainbow#Replicating_the_effect

Depending on versions of the movie, formats of the musical media and type of hardware, the synchronization procedure can have variances.

Dark Side of The Rainbow is cool.

Pink Floyd's "The Wall" wins by a long shot over every movie mentioned here, hands down. No comparing. Classic tripping movie. and i saw "1408" starring Samuel L. Jackson while on acid...trippy as fuck, give it a try.

Already did w/ a friend a while back. Started off great, turned out it was a waste of time, even by the end WHILE on shrooms we knew this movie sucked/was cliched.  What a horrible ending, I really felt like we wasted valuable tripping time while watching that movie, I laughed more than I got scared/anticipated/anxious.  The scene where he's screaming at the fridge was pretty funny on shrooms.  I highly recommend people to stay away from that movie, pick something better to trip out to.

hah, that's a great idea. great music in that movie too. i have that on video just cause i liked it when i was little. never thought of it as a trip movie.

that makes me think of another one that might be good: the snowman

whenever i'm tripping I'm always aware that everyone in the movie is an actor/actress, and it seems like they are all mentally insane and living in their own world, this is especially true of comedy movies, since they are wacky.

Batman 2 was also like this, the older batman 2, not the newer one. I thought batman was a lunatic/and or tripping, and everyone else in gotham for that matter.

:-)

Or alternatively watching a show called Metalocolypse on shrooms is freaking priceless, the episode where Skisgar gets his hands stuck in freshness vacuum containers and ends up having an allergic reaction, we laughed for 2 hours AFTER the show was done and it was only a 15 min. episode, too funny.

That was a good one.  But, don't bother with Evil Dead I because Evil Dead II is the exact same story, just filmed 100X better.

A true classic.

I remember watching BC Rock back in the day on some sort of white blotter.  That was fun.  Cartoons are great while tripping.  The original Fantasia was another good one.  I haven't seen the remake, but I bet it's good too.

Any time travel movies usually work, or any intense war movies are insane too. Natural Born Killers and Pink Floyd "the wall" are my personal favorites though. If you get scared real easy while trippin these movies are not recomended for the weak hearted souls for you WILL fall into a demonic dream and have the worst trip of your life

Cartoons are good for tripping. They need a child's attention span, which is pretty much what you will have while tripping. Fantasia is great because of the music and lack of dialog. Little Nemo is cool because of the imaginative world.

Planet Earth is great too.

The more complicated the plot and themes, the worse it is for a trip. It will just confuse you. Donnie Darko is a no go for me. Eraserhead, on the other hand, is great.

I once watched Coyote Ugly and some other Lifetime movie on 2C-i once with my buddies. I have never laughed that hard or long in my life.

No Country for Old Men...

HA! That movie ruined a trip for me once.

Liquid Television! (and another ! for good measure) Aeon Flux, The Head, The Maxx...

Requiem for a Dream was insane. I saw the Simpsons movie on shrooms and cried I was so touched by the love the family had for each other. The religious undertones were very intense too. Not to mention all the pretty colors.

Is anyone forgetting the spaghetti westerns? Clint Eastwood in the Good the Bad and the Ugly, A Fistful of Dollars, and For a Few Dollars More? All three are pretty heavy movies with some intense scenes. The Nines is a pretty cool movie, but more of a stoner flic than an Acid flic. A Scanner Darkly was sweet because I swore that for a while I couldn't tell it had the funny animation stuff. Old Smurfs episodes are great to watch too.

Dune has to be my all time favorite stoner movie though. The old one that David Lynch directed. For that matter, old episodes of Twin Peaks are AWESOME while high on weed, prolly not so much while shrooming.

I find that I enjoy philosophical movies more while on shrooms, while I tend to like movies with good directing and/or story lines while on weed. I'd rather watch movies like Fear and Loathing when I'm sober or slightly stoned. To me it's like watching someone else's adventure. If I'm shrooming and watching a movie that follows some guys on drugs, it just makes me want to stop watching the movie so I can have my own adventure.

DeathCompany, any Richard Linklater film is good. A Scanner Darkly was depressing, but it is AWESOME stoned. Requiem for a Dream is pretty deep, I'm not sure if I could watch it on drugs. Try it sometime though if you really liked A Scanner Darkly.

Heh my topic took off, lots of suggestions now

The 2 movies I most highly recommend are...

Natural Born Killers - 2gs mushrooms, first time tripping
Across the Universe - 2.5 grams shrooms, maybe 4th or 5th time tripping

3rd recommendation is the BEACH, not at all movie related.

End of summer myself and 4 friends each took 2 tabs and went to the beach. The water was crystal clear and amazing. The sand was white and fluffy as powder. You could feel the energy of the sun pouring over all over the beach. Was amazing

This guy knows whats going on. I watched this movie on my first acid trip, and jeez... the monologues Keanu Reeves had touched me in so many ways that I did not anticipate. Be prepared to shit a little inside at this movie. I know I did :crazy2:

I watched Gladiator on the come down of an acid trip. For those people who see how fake acting is then this is a good movie to watch because the acting is pretty much flawless and its so well written and directed that we got DEEP into that movie. I couldn't tear my eyes of the screen.

By the way anyone heard of Wondershowzen? I was only rolling when i stumbled across it and it tripped my fucking balls.

Interesting...this was one of my very favorite movies until I watched it on morning glory and noticed all the hollywood theatrical cliches, I mean how the musical and dramatic cues try to steer the audience's mind...it had no effect on me.

I don't think Fantastic Planet is that great of a trip movie either...The concepts are not quite as far out as they might seem, and I'd much rather look at real things... but as far as animated things go (sometimes I get aggitated that I'm not looking at something "real", which would be far more visually stimulating), Alice in Wonderland is good on morning glory...

oh yeah, and Beavis and Butthead Do America on HBWR was surprisingly good and rediculous...not my highest recommendation by any means, but I never noticed how funny the portrayal of so many background characters are

LOL...How about Superjail!

I haven't seen every movie out there, and I like different things depending on the situation, but my vote goes to Microcosmos, mostly because it's all natural stuff and the camera work is excellent

Also, I'm not the biggest Pink Floyd fanatic, but Live in Pompeii is great to watch tripping. Not only is it some of their very best musically, but there's some really nice visual stuff...Watching the smoke shoot out of the space shuttle engine on mescaline was incredible...there are scenes like this in other films like Kooyanisqatsi (however its spelled) but this one has less negative stuff.

Of course Fear and Loathing is still my favorite, even though it can be too much sometimes. HIIIIIIIIGHLY recommended one a high dose of mescaline, if you're actually gonna watch a movie. And The Doors music videos, also my favorite.

L.A. Woman has got to be the best music video ever. Watch THAT while tripping, on a decent sized screen (i.e. not a tiny screen)

acting is so fake on mushrooms. a cartoon would be cool cause you know everything you see is diliberat and has a point. watching people act just makes you hate people though.

mushrooms helped me to believe in the acting so much more while watching alice in wonderland. whoopi goldberg was fantastic. it's as easy as wanting to believe, and you believe. i guess it really depends on what goes on in your mind..

Realize this is a bump, but this is the newest post I found on the subject and its one of my favorite things to do.  My first experience was as a teenager and I took way too much acid resulting in my being glued to a couch for a while.  During that time my friends put in Scar Face and then Natural Born Killers.  Holy shitski!

I love movies, always have.  I'm the guy who can go and see 3 movies in a row at the theater with no problems.

Anyway, my favorite trip movies to date are:

SpeedRacer (duh)
Silent Hill (omg)
Moulin Rouge (green fairie anyone?)

Future fave- Tim Burton's Alice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Once my grow is done I will definately be hitting up the Scanner Darkly movie.  I've wanted to see that for a while.

Really, any movie is good on shrooms for me.  I have notied it tends to diminish special effects...makes them look cheesy sometimes.

I'm also looking forward to a shroom/caffiene combo where I'm planning on watching the Lord of the RIngs extended DVDs over the course of a day.  My brother and I are going out to look at a 73 mitsubishi tomorrow which will definately change the equation!
