Keeping pump after workout

I love the way i look just after i finish a workout at the gym. I get amazing pump in my muscles and i look a lot more fit then normally. Unfortunately it only last for about an hour.
Is there anyway to keep the muscles this way for longer amounts of time? I assume the pump is because of lots of blood in the mucles or something.

I know what you mean, but I also understand that in time, with lots of pushing yourself and advancing (growing stronger), the muscles will get that way...that's half the reason to keep going

The pump is actually a result of lactic acid buildup within your muscles, due to a lack of oxygen. It is not a good thing, even though you look great while you have a pump. Like damius said, keep pushing yourself in the gym and eventually you'll look like you do with a pump now.

Maybe check out some nitric oxide supplements? I know N.O. Xplode (there are tons of NO supps) can result in some pretty wicked pumps.

ATP is needed for both the activation of cross-bridges to cause muscular contraction, and the dissociation of actin and myosin to cause relaxation. Calcium is needed in order to expose the active sites on actin so that myosin can bind to actin (for contraction).
When you workout, you produce lactic acid. Since this is an acid, the more lactic acid that you produce, the more hydrogen ion is released. This increased hydrogen ion level can cause a reduction in the force per cross-bridge, a reduction in the force generated at a given calcium concentration, and block in the release of calcium.

I believe it is the general consensus among the bodybuilding community that NO products are crap. Yeah, they may give insane pumps, but what is that really worth? Plus, there are reported negative side effects that are too severe to overlook.

"Nitric oxide is a free radical important as a signaling molecule on different transduction pathways in cells. Nitric oxide may act as vasodilator, neurotransmitter, and as citotoxic agent for tumor cells. Nitric oxide is synthetized from L-arginine by a family of isoenzymes called nitric oxide synthetases. The induction of the expression of one of these isoenzymes is up-regulated by cytokines known as potent mitogenic factors.
The role of nitric oxide in tumor biology is poorly understood, but it has been shown that nitric oxide may act as part of a signaling cascade for neovascularization, which has been demonstrated to be a prerequisite for tumor progression and metastatic disease. Recently it has been shown that nitric oxide synthetase, is present in human tumor tissues of gynecological cancers, and the stroma of breast cancers. On the other hand, a high concentration of nitric oxide has been demonstrated in bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of patients with lung cancer. Furthermore, the enzyme activity in these primary tumor tissue correlated positively with tumor grade. All these data suggest that nitric oxide plays a paradoxical role in tumor development. Better understanding of the role of nitric oxide in tumor biology could be the basis for the prognostic diagnosis in some of these tumors."
Basically says that NO can cause cancer.
I've also heard of NO supplements causing problems with blood pressure and eye problems like glaucoma.
Having a perpetual pump, which is really not worth anything, isn't worth these potential bad effects, IMO.

This may not be an answer you'll consider but besides consistently training hard for a long time I think the best option for maintaining a pumped feeling/appearance is to grab some Tadalafil and take it every third day or so.
OTC nitric oxide products are overpriced garbage for the most part.
